The minutes of October 5, 1965, and October 12, 1965, were approved as written and mailed to the Planning Commission members. The Chairman requested that the order of business items be dispensed with and requested that the Planning Consultant give his report first. J. A. Vizzier reported on the City Council action taken Monday, November 1, 1965, on the recommendation from the Planning Commission on Jerry Sweetser's petition for rezoning. The City Council referred the petition back to the Planning • Commission for further study and recommendation. Chairman Palmer asked those persons present if their opinions had changed con- cerning the petition of Jerry Sweetser for the rezoning of property west of Gregg Avenue and north of North Street from R -1B Single Family Residential District to C-2 Thoroughfare Commercial District. MR. WRAY WILKES - 319 Holly - was of the opinion that the railroad was not as objectionable as commercial zone and use. MRS. WRAY WIIKES - 319 Holly - was concerned about use of North Street. Any commercialization of North Street created traffic hazards and problems. MR. JIM SCROGGS - 501 Holly - questioned the desirability of multi -family use of the property after the public hearing. He wondered if there was a shortage of the C-2 commercial zoning. If not, why did the petitioner not seek property already zoned C-2. Discussion by the Planning Commission members and the Planning Consultant regard- ing the need of a trade center for contractors, plumbers, builders, electricians, etc. followed. Those present had nothing further to add; therefore the Chairman closed the discussion on the rezoning petition filed by Jerry Sweetser.
