MINUTES OF A CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
• The City Planning Commission met in an Annual Meeting at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday,
February 16, 1965, in the City Council Room of the City Administration Building.
Members present: Suzanne
Lighton,
Bryan
Walker, Wade
Fincher, Bill
Dalton,
Ernest
Jacks and
Clark
McClinton.
(J. A. Vizzier
was present.)
Members absent: J. F. Palmer, Henry Shreve and Allan Gilbert.
The meeting was called to order by Vice-chairman Suzanne Lighton. The vice-
chairman presided in the absence of Chairman J. F. Palmer.
It was reported that the City Council had passed several ordinances at its meeting
of February 15. Among these ordinances were the plumbing, gas, electrical, fire
prevention and housing ordinances. After checking the minutes of the Planning
Commission meetings held to consider the housing ordinance, it was questioned as
to whether or not the Planning Commission had made a formal recommendation to the
City Council and if said recommendation were needed. After a short discussion,
official action on the part of the Planning Commission eras deemed unnecessary.
The minutes of February 2, 1965, were approved with corrections. These corrections
being:
"The problem confronting the Planning_Commission on the narrow
right of way of Hotz Drive east of Garvin Avenue was referred
to Suzanne Lighton and J. A. Vizzier with authority to act.
• After a brief discussion on Otis Stobaugh's building problem on
Lot 4 of Kenilworth Place, Chairman Palmer referred the problem
to the Chairman of the Subdivision Committee (Suzanne Lighton)
and J. A. Vizzier with authority to act."
In regard to the proposed amendment of the By-Laz,rs, the Vice-chairman reported
that a written notice of said amendment had been mailed to all Planning Commission
members in accordance with ARTICLE V Amendments. Bill Dalton moved that the
Planning Commission amend ARTICLE II. Officers A., of its By -Laws, adopted
November 11, 1959, and revised January1 , 19a2, said amendment to read as follows:
ARTICLE II. OFFICERS
A. From.its membership the Planning Commission shall elect a
chairman, vice-chairman, and secretary annually at the regular
meeting in the month of February.
The motion was seconded by Bryan Walker and passed unanimously.
At the meeting of February 2, 1965, the Planning Commission voted to set the date
of the Annual Meeting for Tuesday, February 16; therefore the election of officers
was the next item of business.
Clark McClinton moved that the Planning Commission retain its present officers
• and that J. F. Palmer be re-elected Chairman and that Suzanne Lighton be re-
elected Vice-chairman and Secretary. The motion was seconded by Bryan Walker
and passed unanimously.

There was some discussion of W. G. Shipley's preliminary subdivision plat,
• but no official action was taken. Suzanne Lighton reported that Mr. Shipley's
engineer had met once with the Subdivision Committee and future meetings had
been suggested.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
