MINUTES OF A CITY PLANNING COMtIISSION MEETING
The City Planning
Commission met in a
special meeting at 4:00 P.M.,
Tuesday,
November 3, 1964,
in the City Council
Room in the City Administration Building.
Members present:
J. F. Palmer and Ernest Jacks.
Members absent:
Suzanne Lighton, Clark McClinton, Bill Dalton, Allan
Gilbert,
Wade Fincher, Bryan
Walker and Henry Shreve.
Others present:
Monroe Laner, B. R.
Nelson, M. C. Aumick and J.
A. Vizzier.
Chairman J. F. Palmer called the meeting to order. Chairman Palmer reported that
the purpose of the special meeting was to hold a public hearing to hear and
consider a petition for rezoning property fronting Rock Street between Block
Avenue and Church Avenue.
The Chairman asked the petitioners to present their request. Mr. Monroe
Laner spoke in the petitioners behalf. Mr. Laner stated that he, being in
the real estate business.,'has a contract for the sale of property subject to
a change in zoning from R-3 Multi -Family Residential to C-3 Central Commercial
District. Mr. Laner stated that the proposed zoning change would not conflict
with surrounding land uses because real estate on the north side of Rock Street
is presently the City of Fayetteville's center of commercial activity and is
zoned C-3; across Block Avenue to the east is C-2 and the surrounding neighbor-
hood is predominantly commercial.
The Chairman asked if there were any objectors present or if anyone had voiced
his objections by mail or by telephone. There were no objections made known.
The purpose of the public hearing having been accomplished, the hearing was
adjourned.
The members present discussed several items which need to be studied by the
Planning Commission. Because of the number of these items, an evening meet-
ing of the Planning Commission was suggested.
There being no quorum present to make any recommendations of the petition for
rezoning of property on the south side of Rock Street between Block Avenue and
Church Avenue or to take formal action on any other item, the meeting was
adjourned.
