HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-05-05 MinutesMINUTES OF A CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING • The Fayetteville Planning Commission met in the City Council Room in the City Administration Building at 4:00 p.m: on Tuesday, May 5, 1964. Members present: Bill Dalton, Ernest Jacks, Allan Gilbert, Jr., Bryan Walker, Wade Fincher and Henry Shreve. Also present were Harold E. Lieberenz, City Inspector; Wesley Gordon and E. J. Ball. Members absent: J. F. Palmer, Suzanne Lighton and Clark McClinton {ill). In the absence of the Chairman and Vice-chairman Bill Dalton presided at the public hearing. Mr. Dalton called the meeting to order. He reported that the purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing to cnnsider the rezoning of property owned by the Chamber of Commerce and located several hundred feet south of Cato Springs Road and West of U. S. Highway 71 (South). E. J. Ball, President of Chamber of Commerce, and Wesley Gordon were present to represent the Chamber of Commerce. There was no opposition to the rezoning present at the hearing. Bill Dalton said he owned property to the west of this property which is being considered; therefore he was familiar with the location. Mr. Dalton said a portion of the real estate would be used for the side of the Shakespeare Company. The other portion would eventually be used for another industry. Mr. Dalton told those present that 100 acres to the west and south of the real estate in qyestion is being considered • for an industrial park. Mr. Dalton stated that a 60 foot east -west street would be dedicated on the south of the property. Mr. Henry Shreve arrived at the meeting. After a short discussion Bryan Walker moved that the Planning Commission recommned to the City Council that the below described real estate be rezoned from RS2, O-1 and C-2 to I-2. The motion was seconded by Wade Fincher and passed unanimously. This real estate is described as follows: All that part of the South Half of the Northwest Quarter of Section 28, Township 16 North, Range 30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian lying West of U. S. Highway No. 71, as presently located, and being more particularly described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at an iron pin on the West boundary of said highway, said point being 120 feet west of the northeast corner of said 80 acre tract, and running thence West to an iron pin at the northwest corner thereof, thence South to an iron pin at the south- west corner thereof, thence East to an iron pin on the west boundary of said highway, thence northeasterly along the west boundary of said highway to the point of begin- ning. 0 • • 79 RESOLUTION PC 8-64 WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Planning Commission on May 59 1964, to give consideration to the rezoning for industrial use property several hundred feet south of Cato Springs Road and west of U. S. Highway No. 71 South; and WHEREAS, a quorum was present at said public hearing and the members present voted to make a recommendation to the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEV ILLE, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. That the real estate located as generally described above and as more particularly described in the petition submitted herewith be rezoned from R-2 Two Family Residential District, O-1 Open Land District and C-2 Thoroughfare Commercial District to I-2 Heavy Industrial District. PASSED AND APPROVED this day of In regard to the street to be dedicated to the City of Fayetteville, on motion by Allan Gilbert, Jr., seconded by Bryan Walker, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to accept the proposed 60 foot strip of land along the entire south property line;; for street purposes. Said strip of land is to be dedicated to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The minutes of April. 7, 1964, and April 14, 1964, were approved as written and mailed to the members prior to this meeting. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
