HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-10-31 Minutes• MINUTES OF A CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING The Fayetteville City Planning Commission met in a special called meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers in the City Administration Building on Thursday, October 31, 1963. Members present: J. F. Palmer, Suzanne Lighton, Henry Shreve, Clark McClinton, George Caudle and Bryan Walker. Also present was Harold E. Lieberenz, City Building Inspector. Members absent: Bill Dalton, Paul Young and Hugh Stubblefield. The special meeting was called to order by Chairman J. F. Palmer. Chairman Palmer reported that the purpose of this special called meeting was to consider a resolution from the City Council (Resolution No. 17-63) passed and approved the 28th day of October, 1963, Chairman Palmer read to the Planning Commission the resolution within which the City Council requested that the City Planning Commission of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, take the necessary action immediately to begin proceeding for the amending of the provisions of the zoning ordinance to hereafter zone all newly annexed territory as 0-1 Open Land District instead of R -2A Single Family Residential District as the Zoning Ordinances now provide, in order that the owners of said annexed land have more flexible use of their property. • ?:�:i�iFiri;if3;�`£i.S`H;-JHH-,�.-:£i:-;;-if ;:�.FiH",Y,'-ItiH ��F;Y.H�HHf-i:-li;�E`F3HH:�i'riHSHi3;iH:3�i��'-1.�i�:,�E:tii�.'cs'f-3F�'Hmiiif-,Y-JH.S':iHiii�i:�.tifitiH: RESOLUTION N0. 17-63 WHEREAS, Zoning Ordinance No. 1239, passed and approved June 13, 1960, as amended by Ordinance No. 1276, passed and approved September 25, 1961; Ordinance No. 1282, passed and approved January 8, 1962; Ordinance No. 1284, passed and approved January 22, 1962; and Ordinance No. 1339, passed and approved February 25, 1963, and Zoning District Map, approved May 28, 1962, govern the Zoning Districts within the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and WHEREAS, real estate property which is annexed to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is automatically zoned as R -IA Single -Family Residential District under the provisions of these zoning ordinances, and WHEREAS, the City Council, after careful consideration, has determined that it would be for the best interest of the property owners that the present zoning ordinances be amended to provide that, in the future, all newly annexed territory be automatically zoned as O-1 Open Land District, so as to provide more flexible use of said land by owners. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: • That the City Planning Commission of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, take the necessary action immediately to begin proceeding for the amending of the pro- visions of the zoning ordinance to hereafter zone all newly annexed territory to 0-1 Open Land District instead of R-lA Single -Family Residential District as the • Zoning Ordinances now provide, in order that the owners of said annexed land have more flexible use of their property. DAVIS, CITY CLERK George Caudle moved that the Planning Commission concur with the City Councilts resolution and that a public hearing be held at. the earliest possible time to amend the zoning ordinances so that hereafter all newly annexed territory automatically be zoned 0-1 Open Land District instead of R -]A Single -Family Residential District as now provided by the zoning ordinances. Suzanne Lighton seconded the motion and after a rather lengthy discussion was had, the motion passed unanimously. • The purpose of the special meeting having been accomplished, the meeting was adjourned.
