HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-07-05 Minutes�J J • MINUTES OF A CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING The Fayetteville City Planning Commission met in special session at 4:00 p.m., July 5, 1963, the special session having been called following the failure of a quorum on June 27, 1963. Miss Suzanne C. Lighton, Vice-chairman, presided in the absence of the Chairman, and other members present were George F. Caudle, Bill Dalton, Henry Shreve and Paul Young; members absent were J. F. Palmer, Clark McClinton, Hugh Stubblefield and Bryan Walker. On motion of Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Caudle, it was unanimously voted to recommend that J. E. Gabbard+s final plat of Valley Vista Addition be approved. After discussion of the petition of W. A. Lewis and Murray Lewis for rezoning of Lot 3, Block 3, A. L. Trent Subdivision of Oak Grove Addition, from Zone R=2 to C-2, which petition was presented at the public hearing on June 27, 1963, it was moved by Mr. Caudle, seconded by Mr. Dalton, that the Commission recommend that the petition be granted. Mr. Caudle and Mr. Dalton voted "Aye" and Mr. Shreve, Mr. Young and Miss Lighton voted "Nay" so that the motion was defeated. Mr. Young moved, seconded by Mr. Shreve, that the Commission recommend that the petition for rezoning to C-2 be denied but that it be recommended that the lot unloved byrezoned to U� R-4 to permit the construction of a parking lot on the tract. All members present voted "Aye" except Mr. Dalton who voted "Nay" and the motion was passed. 0 RESOLUTION N0. PC 13-63 WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on June 27, 1963, by the Planning Commission on the petition of Murray F. Lewis and W. A. Lewis, at which time no formal action was taken; and WHEREAS, at a special meeting on July 5, 1963, the Planning Commission voted to make a formal recommendation to the City Council; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE. ARKANSAS, THAT IT RECOMMENDS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the petition be denied as -to rezoning from R-2 Two -Family Residential A District to C-2 Thoroughfare Commercial District., However, the City Planning Commission recommends to the City Council to rezone the Lot 3 in Block 3 of A. L. Trent Subdivision of Oak Grove Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, from R-2 Two -Family Residential District to R-4 Multi -Family Residential and Dormitory District. PASSED AND APPROVED this S day of .SL. c4 • Following discussion of the petition of L: M. McGoodwin for rezoning to Zone C-2 from Zone R -1B of land described in his petition which was presented at the public hearing on June 27, 1963, Mr. Caudle moved, seconded by Mr. Young, that the Commission recommend that the petition be denied as to C-2 but that the Commission recommend rezoning the area to RP Professional Zone. All members voted "Aye" except Mr. Dalton who voted "Nay" and the motion was passed. RESOLUTION N0. PC 12-63 WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on June 27, 1963, by the Planning Commission on the petition of L. M. McGoodwin and Mary Joyce McGoodwin, husband and wife, at which time no formal action was taken; and WHEREAS, at a special meeting on July 5, 19639 the Planning Commission voted to make a formal recommendation to the City Council; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT IT RECOMMENDS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE$ ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the petition be denied as to rezoning from R -1B Single -Family Residential District to C-2 Thoroughfare Commercial District. However, the City Planning Commission recommends to the City Council to rezone the area petitioned from R -1B Single -Family Residential District to R -P Professional Office Residential • District.
