MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING COMMISSICN
The City Planning Commission of Fayetteville, Arkansas, met in a regular meeting on
Tuesday, Augast 7, 1962, at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Room in the City Adminis-
tration Building,
Present: Miss Suzanne Lighton, Mr. Hugh Stubblefield, Mr. Clark McClinton, Mr. Bryan
Walker and Mr. George Caudle.
Absent: Mr. Henry Shreve, Mr. Paul Young, Mr. J. F. Palmer and Mr. Bill Dalton.
In the absence of the Chairman, the Vice-chairman Suzanne Lighton conducted the
meeting.
Mr. E. J. Ball, attorney for petitioners, and Mr. Lewis Jones, attorney for protesting
property owners, were present at this meeting as requested by the Vice-chairman.
Miss Lighton reported that the 45 day time limit for the approval or disapproval of the
petition for rezoning filed by Evelyn Hills Shopping Center, Inc., and T. I. Abehier
would expire Thursday, August 9, 1962. Although E. J. Ball had a topography map
which the Planning Commission thought would be more helpful, neither attorney had met
with their clients and obtained the information for which the Planning Commission had
requested at the August 1, 1962, special meeting; therefore after a lengthy and
involved discussion, Mr. Clark McClinton moved that the Planning Commission postpone
taking action on the petition filed until Thursday, August 9, 1962, at which time a
special meeting would be called, and in the meantime both attorneys try to meet with
their clients before August 9. The motion was seconded by Mr. Bryan Walker and passed
unanimously.
Mr. Pat Watkins* preliminary plat of Elmwood Addition was brought before the Planning
Commission for action. Clark McClinton moved that the Planning Commission approve
Pat Watkins} preliminary plat of Elmwood Addition provided that all the streets shown
on the plat are dedicated and minor problems are worked out with the Building
Inspector. The motion was seconded by Bryan Walker and passed unanimously,
Mr. George Caudle left the meeting at this time. A quorum was not present; however
the remaining members briefly discussed the error that 0had been made in the ordinance
rezoning to a commercial zone an area which included lot 12 of Evelyn Hills Addition
to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The secretary was asked to check the City
Council,minutes pertaining to the rezoning ordinance.
As a quorum was
no longer
present,
no further action was taken and the meeting was
adjourned.
