MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
• The City Planning Commission of Fayetteville, Arkansas, met in a special meeting on
Tuesday, June 26, 19620 at 4:00 p.me in the City Council Room in the City Administra-
tion Building.
Present: Mr. Palmer, Miss Lighton, Mr. Caudle, Mr. Stubblefield and Mr. Dalton.
Absent: Mr. McClinton, Mr. Walker, Mr. Shreve and Mr. Young.
The Chairman reported that the purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing to
consider the rezoning from R-2 Two-family Residential District to C-2 Thoroughfare
Commercial.District property belonging to G. C. Thomas and said property being located
at the intersection of Highway 62 West (Sixth Street) and Garland Avenue (Stadium
Road).
The Chairman declared the hearing open for discussion and that anyone present for or
against the petition for rezoning presented to the Planning Commission by G. Co
Thomas would be heard at this time. There was no one to be heard against said rezon-
ing petition; Mr. Thomas was present to explain his request for rezoning. Other than
the petitioner no one appeared in favor of the rezoning petition. There being no
questions nor any further discussion, the Chairman reported that the purpose of the
public hearing having been accomplished, the public hearing was adjourned. The
Chairman declared the Planning Commission in executive session.
Mr. Caudle moved that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council that G. C.
Thomas' property located at the intersection of Highway 62 West (Sixth Street) and
Garland Avenue (Stadium Road) and being more particularly described as follows: A
part of the Southwest quarter (SWa) of the Southwest quarter (S4) of Section 16
Township 16 North, Range 30 West. Beginning at a point 737.2 feet south of the'North-
west corner of said 40 acre tract, and running thence south 200 feet to the right-of-
way line of U. S. Highway 62; thence east 160 feet along the right -of -sway line of
said highway to the intersection of Garland Avenue (East Stadium Road); thence north
10 degrees and 25 minutes west, 210.59 feet more or less along the west line of
Garland Avenue (East Stadium Road); thence west 105.87 feet more or less to the point
of beginning, be rezoned from R-2 Two-family Residential District to C-2 Thoroughfare
Commercial District. *The motion was seconded by Miss Lighton and passed unanimously.
Mr. Palmer reported that the Judicial Committee had met and as a result of their meet-
ing, Mr. Joe Hinton was instructed to present his building problem to the Board of
Adjustment.
Mr. Pat Watkins appeared before the Planning Commission to discuss his proposed sub-
division. After much discussion, the Chairman referred the subdivision to the
Subdivision Committee and suggested that Mr. Watkins present a sketch of his sub-
division to the Planning Commission at their regular meeting after he has discussed
the subdivision with his engineer.
