MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
The City Planning Commission of Fayetteville, Arkansas, met in a special meeting
on Friday, December 15, 1961, at 4:00 p.m, in the Council Room in the City
Administration Building,
Present: Mr. Palmer, Mrs. Siegel, Miss Lighton, Mr. Caudle and Mr. Stubblefield.
Absent: Mr. Shreve, Mr. Young, Mr. Dalton and Mr. McClinton.
The Chairman reported that the purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing
to consider the rezoning of property belonging to Mr. Vernon Wilson on Mount Comfort
Road and to discuss, the proposed rezoning of the north annexation which was to have
been held at a special meeting of the Planning Commission on Tuesday, December 12, 1961,
but was postponed to this date (Friday, December 15, 1961) because a quorum of..the
Planning Commission was not present:
Mr. Vernon Wilson petitioned the Planning Commission to rezone his property on Mount
Comfort Road from R-2 Two-family Residential District to C-1 Neighborhood Commercial
District. Miss Lighton moved that we recommend to the City Council the rezoning of
Mr. Vernon Wilsonvs property: Part of the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter
of Section Nine (9) in Township Sixteen (16) North of Range Thirty (30) West of the
5th P. M. described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at a point which is one hundred
seventy and four -tenths (170.4) feet East and one hundred sixty-five (165) feet North
of the South West corner of said forty acre tract, and running thence east two hundred
four and six tenths (204.6) feet; thence south one hundred sixty-five (165) feet;
thence west two hundred four and six tenths (204.6) feet; thence north one hundred
sixty-five (165) feet-.tb'theepoint of beginning, and part of the Southwest quarter
of the Northwest quarter of Section Nine (9) in Township Sixteen (16) North of Range
Thirty (30) West, described as follows: Beginning at a point one hundred seventy and
four -tenths (170.4) feet East and two hundred fifty five (255) feet North of the South
West corner of said forty acre tract, and running thence South ninety (90) feet; thence
East one hundred fifty four and six -tenths (154.6) feet; thence North thirty eight
(38) feet. to the center line of the Old Mount Comfort Road; thence West bearing North
with the center of the road to the place of beginning. Mr. Caudle seconded the motion
and the motion passed unanimously.
After discussing the proposed rezoning of the north annexation to the City of Fayette-
ville, Mr. Stubblefield moved that we recommend to the City Council the rezoning of
the north annexation as shown on the map presented by Mr. Nelson. Miss Lighton seconded
the motion and the motion passed unanimously.
Miss Lighton moved that we correct the minutes of November 6, 1961, to reflect the
intention of the Planning Commission and to read: Mr. Dalton moved that the Zoning
Ordinance be amended to permit upon review and approval by the Board of Adjustment any
type of residential use in C-1 Neighborhood Commercial District, C-3 Central Commercial
District and apartments and rooming houses in C-2 Thoroughfare Commercial District.
Mr. Stubblefield seconded the motion. The motion passed unan ously.
The meeting was adjourned.
