MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING CM11ISSION
A special meeting of the Fayetteville Planning Commission was called to order by
Chairman Forrest Palmer. The meeting was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday,
November 14, 1961, at 7:00 p.m.
Planning Commission members present: Mr. Palmer, Miss Lighton, h:rs. Siegel,
Kr. Shreve, Mr. McClinton and Yr. Dalton.
Others present at the meeting: Mr. Nelson, Mr. Lieberenz, Mr. E. T. Coombs, Mr. Fred
Schaffer, and three other visitors.
The purpose of the meeting was to act upon the south annexation and to study and
discuss the preliminary map of the north annexation.
Mr. Nelson presented a map of the south annexation. He explained and pointed out
the zoned areas.
Mr. Palmer called for a discussion from the Planning Commission members and those
present:
Ns. E. T. Coombs who lives north off Sunrise Road said the 0-1 zone in which
his property is located was all right as far as the use he had planned.
Mfr. Fred Shaffer was interested in the lot located south of Howard Thurlby's
property oh South 71 Highway. The lot is in the proposed commercial zone and
• is zoned all right for 1,r. Schaffer's future plans.
Yr. Nelson mentioned a proposed motel which would possibly be located across
from the furniture store between the City Lake Road and Highway 71 South. The
location for this proposed motel is zoned C-2 which would allow the motel to be
built in this area. R
Mr. Shreve moved that we recommend to the City Council the acceptance of the regu-
lations and the zoning as shown on the map and to extend R-2 area to include that
portion north of Skelton Road (J. W. Skelton Subdivision and Country Club Addition)
inorder to correspond with plat on file and any other plats filed but not shown on
the map with the exception of any plat already zoned commercial. Mr. McClinton seconded
the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Yr. Nelson explained the preliminary map of the north annexation.
Nr. Shreve moved that in the zoning of the north annexed area the C-2 areas along
Highway 71 North be 300 feet wide with a further provision that from Township Road to
the north line of the C-2 Commercial zone the setback regulations be based on a future
100 -foot highway right-of-way and from the north line of the C-2 Commercial zone on
north the setback regulations be based on a future 120 -foot highway right-of-way and
that permits be issued on those bases. Also a public hearing be called at the earliest
possible date. Miss Lighton seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The date of the public hearing was set for Tuesday, December 12, 1961, at 4:00 p.m.
Yx. King Wheelers preliminary subdivision plat was discussed dt � action taken.
The meeting was adjourned.
