HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-10-24 MinutesME MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION • A public hearing of the Fayetteville Planning Commission was called to order at 4:00 p.m., October 24, 1961, by Chairman Forrest Palmer. Planning Commission members present: Mr. Palmer, Miss Lighton, Mr. Shreve, Mr. McClinton and Mrs. Siegel. MR SnivO&EFficp Others present at the meeting: Mr. Nelson, Mr. Lieberenz, Mr. Christie and Mrs. Eleanor Johnson. There were two requests for rezoning: 1. Certain properties along the east side of the railroad track will be considered for rezoning from R -1B Single Family Residential District to I-lA Light Industrial District. The properties to be studied are bounded by an area located approximately 200 feet south of Adams Street to approximately the south line of Taylor Steeet, and more particularly described as lots 16, 17, 18, 199 20 and 21 of Block 3; lots 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 of Block 2; and lots 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 of Block 1 of Mitchellts Addition to the City of Fayetteville. 2. Certain property along the west side of the railroad track will be considered for rezoning from R-3 Multi -family Residential District to I-lA Light Industrial District. This property is located north • of Taylor Street and is more particularly described as lot 15 of Bushnell's Addition to the City of Fayetteville. A letter from Mr. Ray Trammel opposing the rezoning was read by the secretary. Mr. Trammel opposed increased traffic and trailer courts. Trailer courts, however, are not permitted in I-lA. Mrs. Johnson expressed desire to see a correction of unsightly conditions in the cityts trailer courts. Mr. Lieberenz said there is an ordinance governing "new" trailer courts. The courts are permitted in C-2 and C-3 zones and they must have 1,000 square feet of land. The trailers must by 15 feet apart. The Rezoning Committee recommended changing the two areas to I-lA. Following discussion Mr. Shreve moved that we recommend to the City Council the rezoning of the above described areas. Mr. Stubble field seconded. The motion passed unanimously. There was discussion of the possibility of rezoning Trenton. Mr. Nelson presented a description of a special R -2P Zone for professional offices in residential districts. A few changes were suggested and the matter was turned over to the chairman of the Rezoning Committee. The meeting was adjourned. i
