HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-05-31 Minutes32 • MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION The Fayetteville Planning Commission was called to order for a public hearing at 4:00 p.m. on May 31, 1961, by vice-chairman Clay Yoe. Planning Commission members present: Mr. Yoe, Miss Lighton, Mr, Stubblefield, Mr. Shreve, Mr. Caudle and Mrs. Siegel. Others present at the meeting: Mr. Burgin, Mr. Smith and Mr. Lieberenz. 1. A change in zoning from Two -Family Residential (R-2) to Neighborhood Commercial (C-1) was requested for property located on the east side of North Garland, bounded by Mt. Comfort Road on the north, Lindell on the west and North Street on the south, and more particularly desceibed as follows, to -wit: Part of the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section Nine (9), in Township sixteen (16) North, of Range thirty (30) West of the 5th Principal Meridian, described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at a point which is three hundred seventy-five (375) feet East of the South West corner of said forty acre tract, and running, thence East one hundred fifty-three (153) feet; thence North one hundred thirty- two (132) feet to the center of the Old Mt, Comfort Road; thence West bearing North with the center of said road to a point which is due North of the beginning point; thence South one hundred eighty-two (182) • feet, more or less, to the place of beginning, containing one-half (1/2) acre, more or less, less and except that part of said real estate lying within the right of way of North Street, Mount Comfort Road, and Lindell Avenue in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mr. Vernon Wilson spoke in favor of the request. He plans to purchase Mrs. Myers' property if it is rezoned and to develop it together with Mr. Parish into a neighborhood shopping center. No one spoke in opposition. Miss Lighton moved that we recommend to the City Council the granting of the petition for rezoning of the Myers property incorporating recommendations and conditions, so far as they apply, which were approved January 17, 1961, in connection with Austin Parish's petition. Mr. Stubblefield seconded the motion and the motion carried. Mr. Philip N. Flum appeared to request that the streets of the Johnnie Bassett subdivision, to the north of his property, be made to coincide with the Neil Ingle subdivision to the south of his property. Miss Lighton made the motion that we recommend that referring to Lot 5 of Block 3 and Lots 12, 13, 14 of Block 3 West Sunny Acres Addition be amended to show a continuation of Leland Avenue and Lonnie Avenue south to the south line of Mr. Bassett's property which includes more or less sixty (60) feet • lying south of the proposed plat (in order to tie in with north -south streets of Neil Ingles' Valley Way Addition) and to establish a required turn -around 33 • Minutes of May 31, 1961 at the south ends of the streets and that he be required to furnish a more complete vicinity map showing property owners and uses to which the property is being put. The motion was seconded by Mr. Stubblefield and carried unanimously. Mr. Shreve made a motion that we adjourn. Mr. Stubblefield seconded. The motion carried. •
