• MINUTES OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
Chairman Emory Gose presided at the regular meeting of the Fayetteville Planning
Commission meeting March 7, 1961.
Planning Commission members present: Mr. Gose, Mr. Caudle, Mr. Stubblefield,
Miss Lighton, Mr. Young and Mrs. Siegel.
Others present at the meeting: Mr. Raymond Nelson.
The minutes were accepted following correction.
1.
Mr. Gose reported on his meeting with Mayor Brown for the purpose of appointing a
Citizens Planning Advisory Committee. The function is:
To advise and make recommendations on the planning program generally.
To review and make recommendations on approaches to the problem of blight,
deterioration and obsolenscence in the community.
To review and make recommendations on the steps to be taken to further coordinate
the planning needs and programs of the City with those of the University.
To review and advise on related problems:
Members: (given in March 21, 1961, minutes).
2. Mr. J. E. McClelland has requested a joint meeting of the Planning Committee of the
City Council and the Planning Commission. Miss Lighton moved that we have such a
meeting on March 215t and that the Mayor's office be asked to notify all concerned.
• Mr. Young seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
3. Mr. Gose appointed three additional committees:
Planning Administration Committee: Mr. Palmer (Ch.), Clay Yoe, George Caudle
Planning Work Program Committee: Mr. Young (Ch.), Mr. Stubblefield, Leonard
Kendall
Reports and Public Inform. Committee: Miss Lighton (Ch.), Ted Wylie, J. Coving-
ton

4. A letter of appreciation from Mrs. Pryor was read.
5. Carl Yates (for Gene Davis of Springdale) spoke for the Bel -Acres 2nd Addition.
The plat was disapproved for the reasons given by the Building Inspector in his
report. If Mr. Yates mades the necessary changes, his plat will be considered on
March 21. Members of the Planning Commission expressed interest in opening of ?
St. east of Garland to Leverett.

The Harris plat was discussed (however, without a quorum). Objections to the
approval of the plat are given in the report from the Building Inspector. Also, the
engineer had not labeled it preliminary plat; there was no certification by the en-
gineer, no curbs, gutters or black top indicated. Mr. Young made the motion that
we also consider Mr. Harris' plat on March 21 if the corrections have been made.
7. To facilitate action on subdivision plats, Mr. Lieberenz will make the objections to
the subdivider in order that he make as many corrections as possible before the plat
comes to the Planning Commission,
8. With no quorum the remaining members did not re-examine the plat of Johnnie Bassett,

(b) nor begin the plat of Mr. Couch, nor (c) the rezoning request of Mr. Roberts.
Mr. Nelson asked to have the Workable Program brought before the City Council,
the Housing Code and the revised Major Street Plan placed before the Planning
Commission
