George Caudle, chairman, presided. Planning Commission members present: Mr. Gose, Mr. Caudle, Mr. Stubblefield, Mr. Yoe, Mrs. Siegel, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Young, Mr. Phelps and Miss Lighton. Others present at the meeting: Mr. Raymond Nelson of the University City Planning. The matter of vacating that portion of Walnut Avenue lying between the south line of Sutton Street and the north line of that portion of Walnut Avenue heretofore vacated by order of the Chancery Court, which matter was referred to the Commission by the City Council, was discussed. On motion of Mr. Yoe, seconded by Mr. Stubblefield, it was unanimously voted that the Commission recommend that the petition for vacating the street be granted, subject to the planned public hearing. The matter of the proposed plat of Hatfield Subdivision, which had been approved by the Commission and referred back to the Commission by the Council because of the variances from the Subdivision Regulations appearing on the plat, was discussed. It was brought out that the Commission's action approving the plat on September 23, 19600 was before the new Subdivision Regulations Ordinance establishing street widths be- came effective; that the Commission approved the 40 -foot street width shown on the plat because the street is an inside circular drive serving only lots of the Subdivison • and is not a through of the proposed plat indicated that the street could not be widened. Discussion also brought out that when the Commission approved the plat, it was required, where the street leaves the northwest corner of the Subdivision at a point where it probably will connect in the future with another street, that the street be 50 feet wide. Discussion made it clear that approval of this plat, parti- cularly since it was done before the new Subdivision Regulations Ordinance became effective, was not in any way a recommendation that street widths provided in that ordinance be changed and that the Commission is not now recommending such an amend- ment of that ordinance. The proposed plat was not available, and further action on it was deferred until the Commission can discuss the matter with Mr. Hatfield and review the plat with him. The matter of the right-of-way deed from Dr. William M. Center and his wife, which is a deed for a 25 -foot strip that would form part of an extension of 15th Street (which matter had been referred to the Commission by the City Council) was discussed. On motion by Miss Lighton, seconded by Mr. Yoe, it was unanimously voted that since there was not sufficient information available as to the problem involved, action be deferred. On motion of Mr. Gose, seconded by Mr. Phelps, it was unanimously voted that the city be requested to display, in the City Administration Building, posters dealing with City Planning prepared by the League of Women Voters and brought to the meeting by Mrs. Siegel. The matter of building setback lines in 1-A Zones as to subdivisions already existing • was discussed, and the chairman appointed Mr. Yoe and Mr. Gose as a committee to work with Harold Lieberenz, City Building Inspector, on this problem, and to report back at the Commission next meeting. There being no further business, the meeting adjourn,
