Mr. Wright said the summer concerts cost approximately $18,000. Corporate sponsors embrace the program because it is such a positive event and extremely popular with the community. The Bank of Fayetteville is the presenting sponsor this year. Corporate sponsors include Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Northwest Arkansas Times, Eureka Pizza, Fayetteville Athletic Club, McDonald Eye Associates, Magic 107.9, Coca-Cola, and Channel 40/29 Hometown News. Concessions are available at the concerts from Eureka Pizza and Smoothie King. Despite delays during renovation, the Wilson Park Swimming Pool opened on time, Memorial weekend on May 26. Mr. Wright said the pool looks better than ever with the new decking and other improvements. Experiencing first hand a nationwide problem recruiting lifeguards, Mr. Wright said it took longer this year to hire a full staff. The pool is operating from 9:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. weekdays and from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on weekends. Swimming lessons have been popular in years past and indications are this year will be no exception. Mr. Wright encouraged anyone that hasn't enrolled for swimming lessons to do so since sessions are filling quickly. Mr. Wright said softball games are being played almost seven days a week. A recent Northwest Arkansas Times article honored the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation program as the 'Softball Mecca' of Arkansas'. Fayetteville has the largest softball and soccer programs in the state of Arkansas. Mr. Wright reported the economic impact tournaments have on the city, and discussed both past and upcoming scheduled tourneys. Soccer is one of the fastest growing youth sports in the country, and the Parks and Recreation program is expected to continue to grow. Last year approximately 1,300 players participated. Mr. Wright discussed sponsorships and a scholarship program. The fall soccer season will begin after Labor Day. IV. Park Land Dedication Development Name: Hometown Development - Mt.
