STAFF PRESENT: Dugwyler, Hobbs, Rogers
P.R.A.B. MEMBERS PRESENT: Ackerman, Bleidt, Judy, Theil
PRESS PRESENT: Jill Smith -Morning News, Rusty Garrett - NWA Times
GUESTS PRESENT: Dale Clark, Dan Coody
SUBJECT: Mt. Sequoyah/old water facility city property
The Facilities Committee met at 12:00 noon at the Fayetteville Youth Center to ride together to
. view the Mt. Sequoyah/old water facility city owned property. Committee members, staff, guests
and the press visually inspected the property and discussed several possible applications of the
land in case it becomes park land. It was stressed that while an "overlook" park does sound
attractive - it was mentioned that there are several drawbacks to having an "overlook" park. It
was also mentioned that the City has the first action to take on deciding who gets the land, what is
to be done with it, and who is to clean it up. Fencing the area off, raquetball courts, handball
courts, and skateboard park were mentioned as possibilties. It was mentioned that parks budget
should not be spent on cleaning this up this parcel of land. Dan Coody stated that he had been
talking to the neighbors surrounding this piece of land and that he did not foresee them having a
problem with it becoming an "overlook" park of the city - eventhough there would be night
visitors. Tlus is when fencing was brought up to maybe detour nightly visitors. The first things to
establish is what is the city going to decide to do with this property, establish the cost of cleaning
it up, then establish its' use
