PRAB TOUR
JUNE 16, 1997
A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was
held at 5:15 p.m., June 16, 1997, at the Parks &
Recreation office located inside the Fayetteville Youth
Center at 915 California, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
PRAB Members Present: Ackerman, James, King, Thiel,
Waite
Staff Present: Clark, Dugwyler, Nelson,
Perkins, Rogers
Media Present: Jill Smith, Morning News
The PRAB members met at the Parks Office and were given
CIP worksheets for two funding sources. The target budget
• for HMR is $749,000, and the target budget for the Sales
Tax Fund is $352,000. Members were asked to review the
material on the bus enroute to the scheduled stops on the
tour.

The PRAB arrived at Washington Elementary School shortly
after 5:30 p.m. where they met school principal Michael
House. House pointed out the area which the school was
hoping to improve with the installation of a concrete or
asphalt pad and basketball goals. There is a real need
for a suitable area for the children to play because the
school turf is nonexistent and extremely poor.
The next stop on the tour was on Salem Road property
owned by Tim Reynolds. This parcel of land adjoins park
property dedicated by Salem Village subdivision. Reynolds
demonstrated several ideas of his proposed development to
the group. Whether this proposed development will be

presented as a regular development or a PUD remains to be
seen.
The final stop on the tour was Bryce Davis Park. Dugwyler
pointed out that work was not complete and several things
would be corrected. The caps on the entrance sign would
be replaced, the basketball goal would be replaced, more
dirt work and clean up would be done, and engineered wood
fibers would be added to the playground fallsafe area.
During the return trip, Ackerman called for a Finance
Committee meeting Friday, June 20, 1997, at the Old Post
Office at 12:00 p.m. Members would have a chance to
review the CIP worksheets provided and discuss revisions
during the Friday meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
