PRAB
SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 15, 1995
The PRAB met to discuss prioritization of Capital Improvement Projects. Betty Turner was
present and presented details of the Adult Center at Walker Park.
Turner: We will start fundraising in a couple of weeks. It is matching funds of $350,000 with a
community development grant. Hopefully it will be completed in a year and one-half.
Waite: We are down to the point where we need items and amounts for everyone to look over.
We also need to add a park maintenance facility to this list.
Dugwyler: The facility would need to have a fenced in yard, storage sheds, stockpile space,
substations, and two or three bays.
Driver: Some of these items seem so needed. It is amazing there is not enough money for these.
Richard: I don't see any trails on this list.
Waite: We have to remember we budget only for park trails. Trails committee would do the
unfunded list for trails.
Clark We will pnoritize these by years.
Driver: Woody Bassett wants us to tie to water and sewer on the sales tax. We need to show we
need long term. He feels it is premature for them to sanction this before they find out about the
Supreme Court ruling on the incinerator. He is right but when the Florida disaster hit, you could
not quit the rest of the nations's business until every house is rebuilt.
Waite: It would be great if we could allocate money to the gyms.
Driver: Did the FYC Board discuss an extra $200,000?
James: Right now it is a minimum size gym and work would start in July.
Driver: Where could we get the extra money? I would like to talk to possible contributors such
as Sweetser,
Clark: Also possibly Lindsey, McClinton, or Campbell Soup.
Meeting adjourned.
