PRAB Present: Staff Present: BUSINESS Savage: Driver: Wright: Waite: Driver: Wright: Kimbrough Driver: Waite: Driver at 12:00 pm Driver, Kimbrough, Mackey, Savage, Waite, Wright Clark, Edmonston in When I was on the soccer board, we had a lot of trouble financing because so many people were going in so many directions. Many corporations won't even talk to you. One man I talked receives fifteen calls a day somedays for donations. There is only so much money out there for fundraising. I will reiterate that the overall confidence level of the PRAB is going to be damaged if PRAB members are soliciting on a large scale level for a facility that is not on our top priority list. This damages our credibility and our future fundraising activities. I do not feel it is damaging. This is at the top of the Soccer Association's priorities. We came up with a list of priorities from all sports at the special sports needs meeting. I feel we should make a decision as to what type of fundraising we want to pursue. If this decision does not meet everyone's views, then maybe they should pursue fundraising apart from being a PRAB member. It is important for each member to remain impartial to one sport or another. I do not want to lose credability with corporations and private donors who may be our only hope for parks and recreation. When I was getting donations for the backstops at Walker Park, I received positive feedback from the community. Sonic said they were so happy with the publicity they received, we could expect another donation from them. I do not favor any sport. I work on donations from different sports. :I would like to see the adoption of an adhoc committee. Has anyone contacted City Adminstration? I have talked to Ben Mayes and Mayor Hanna. We need the representation of City Administration and the City Council. MOTION:KIMBROUGH/SAVAGE The PRAB recommends to adopt an ad hoc committee to review funding sources for the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department. • • • MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 6-0 MOTION: WAITE/KIMBROUGH The PRAB recommends that any PRAB member who raises funds either through the PRAB or any other sports organization that benefits the Parks must have prior approval from PRAB.
