Members Present: Staff Present: Guests Present: Media Present: BUSINESS: I. 5:30 p.m. in Alexander, Anderson, Einert, Jenkins, Palmer, Waite, Waselues Clark, Cox, Edmonston Denele Campbell, U of A Student Kevin Boatright Mary Beth Lohr, Tom Sissom MOTION:ANDERSON/WAITE The minutes from the March 23, 1992 PRAB meeting were approved unanimously 7-0. II. DAVIS PARK Denele Campbell was present to inquire about the location of the park and the status of the pond. III. PRAB FACILITIES COMMITTEE REPORT Waite reported that Waselues, Alexander, Edmonston and himself walked the land proposed by Jim Hatfield for a park on Monday, March 30, 1992 at 5:30 pm. The proposed purchase price is $49,000 for seven acres. The committee recommended that the proposed land not be purchased because the neighborhood is in very close proximity to Walker Park, Walker Park North, Jefferson Park, and the proposed Walker Park expansion land. MOTION:WAITE/WASELUES The PRAB recommends not to purchase the proposed seven acres located on Wood Avenue for a'city park. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 7-0 IV. LAKE FAYETTEVILLE ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY CENTER The Facilities Committee and Park Staff met. with Hal Brown, Dr. Simpson, and University staff to discuss the possibility of a trail around the Center. Hal Brown expressed his concern for a trail along the shoreline and that a trail around the perimeter of the Nature Area with the proper signage and patrol may be carefully laid out. There will more discussions and meetings concerning the trail at a,later date. PRAB Page 2 OTHER BUSINESS Walker Park Expansion Clark reported that the City made an offer on the Walker Park land $186,000. The Walkers counter offered at $200,000. Park staff recommended to PRAB to accept this counter offer. MOTION:JENKINS/ANDERSON The PRAB recommends to the City Board of Directors to purchase the Walker land. This park would be an expansion of Walker Park and Walker Park North in providing additional parking, baseball fields, soccer fields; and a nature area. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 7-0 Green Space Quail Creek Phase II and III Owner/Developer: Wade Bishop Location: Appleby Road Park District: NW, Units: 62 Single Family Land Dedication: 1.6 acres Money in Lieu: $13,950 The facilities committee will meet at Quail Creek on Monday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. to view the land Park Problems Einert reported an indecent exposure act close to Wilson Park. He heard of the incident through flyers the family passed out. Edmonston reported that unleashed dogs are a problem in the parks. Palmer is going to attend the Gulley Park meeting at A.G. Edwards. Alexander reminded everyone that any statements made might be assumed to represent the whole Board. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Minutes Approved: Secretary
