Members Present. Staff Present: Media Present: BUSINESS: Alexander, Anderson, McConnell, Waite Clark, Cox, Edmonston Ron Wood in Einert, Jenkins, I. MOTION:JENKINS/MCCONNELL The minutes from the February 3, 1992 PRAB meeting were approved unanimously 6-0. II. COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS: ALEXANDER Facilities: Waite (C), Anderson, McConnell, Waselues Budget: Einert (C), Jenkins, McConnell, Palmer Program/P.R.: Waselues (C), Anderson The Program committee will be meeting with Mark Paul, League Director, to discuss programs and needs. III. LAKE FAYETTEVILLE PARK HWY 265 PROPOSAL This item was tabled for the second time. Mr. Davis did not attend the meeting. IV. PARK PLACE PHASES VI, VII, VIII: This item is tabled to visit with/�Lindsey and Jorgenson. V. KEATING SUBDIVISION (i ` 0c '` - �3 /l `i', � \1 Owner/Developer: Dick and Bill Keating e,L J Park District: SE G Single Family Units: 44 Land Requirement: 1.1 acres Money in Lieu: $9,900 MOTION:JENKINS/MCCONNELI, The PRAB recommends to table this green space recommendation until a decision is made with the land dedication of Park Place and Foster/Brophy additions. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 6-0 VI. PRAB Page 2 ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY CENTER ISSUE Discussion: Einert: Are there any groups currently utilize any of this property? Some activities such as baseball, soccer, and golf courses have expressed interest. When the center was first established, it was intended for use by citizens also. There is lots of wildlife there because of the natural area. Edmonston:Aren't trails considered natural? Einert: Yes, for the most part. Maybe, we could ask the School Board to extend service to people that are senior citizens or have no children. Because these are the people that can't utilize the center. All we really want facilities for public Clark: Clark: wanting to Waite: is trails and use in summer. of VI. SWEETSER CONCRETE DONATION A 46 X 24 concrete pad is needed for the Sweetbriar Park basketball goals. Jerry Sweetser had informed Larry Palmer that he would like to make a donation to City Parks. MOTION:JENKINS/WAITE The PRAB recommends to table this issue until Larry Palmer is present. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 6-0 VII. PARK ALTERNATE FUNDING AND SWEETBRIAR PARK RENAME PROPOSAL MOTION:WAITE/EINERT The PRAB recommends to table these issues until Larry Palmer is present. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY 6-0 OTHER BUSINESS: A letter was received from Denele Campbell regarding the proposal to fill in the pond at Davis Park. This was recommended by the architects and engineers because of the stagnation of the pond due to a new sewer line. Jenkins informed PRAB that the Sherman Lollar League will be playing Bambino rules this year. There will be a Bambino District Tournament at Walker Park the first week of July which will bring in many people. PRAB Page 3 OTHER BUSINESS: Jenkins proposed a name change for Lake Fayetteville South to give the park it's own identity away from the North side. Alexander requested for PRAB members to be awarethat when they voice opinions in public, citizens assume it is the opinion of the PRAB. The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m. Minutes Approved: Secretary
