PUBLIC MEETING
RIDGEWAY AND SHADOWRIDGE
MARCH 5, 1990
The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with a short introduction by Rodney
Ryan, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Chairman.
The following comments or ideas were expressed by the citizens:
*Do you mow all of the area?
As much as safely possible
*The cost of $4,000 for maintenance seems high.
*Any thought of making it mowable?
*Potential for this area to be attractive?
Vorsanger: Do not have money to maintain this area?
Bob Kelly: There is a hope that the neighborhood would be
interested in adopting the park.
Mrs. Teas: There was a contract in 1967 that said the City
Beautification Committee would maintain this area.
*We don't have the equipment, do you expect us to maintain the
area? Why don't you plant trees on it.
*I don't favor trees, I like the view, I could buy a special mower
if it came to that.
*Some suggestions: Trees, flowers, groundcover, or rocks.
*Many of the neighbors already maintain the area in front of
their house and have for years.
Glover: This property is not only used by the owners but also
is a public trust. City and PRAB are to make decisions
for the area.
Teas: The Parks Department has maintained the area for years.
It is a visual park.
*The PRAB has done a good job!
Young: Has lived on East Ridgeway since 1956. He tried planting
forsythes but they were mowed down when the City crew
mowed.
*The Parks Director informed all citizens that they should contact
*Have any trees been cut by the Parks Department?
Only the ones that are dangerous to the mowers.
Smith: What are we faced with?
Yes.
Budget cuts?
Vorsanger: The right of ways are obstructed because of some of the
trees.
*The area around the point is always trashed because younger people
always park their cars their on the weekends and throw trash out.
Is there a way a barricade could be installed there to prevent
this?
*Are other Parks being looked at for budget cuts?
Yes, all parks are being reviewed for cuts.
*Some would like to see park
future.
*The City has dug a ditch for
Shadowridge.
