PRAB
REGULAR MEETING
JULY 17, 1989
Charlie Sego called the Regular Meeting of the Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board to order at 5:05 p.m.

I. Minutes were approved as written.
II. GULLEY PARK DEVELOPMENT
Dr. Barry Brown spoke of his ideas for the
Jogging/hiking/biking trail at Gulley Park.
He stressed that people (especially families) want a
place where they can go during the day that is a safe
place. He said the place needed to have more open
area than playground equipment, tennis courts, etc. A
Fitness Trail was discussed but not recommended by Dr.
Brown. It was decided that a hard surface would be
better for mothers and the elderly, but wood chips are
still being considered. The main idea of this project
is to keep it as close to nature as possible.
111. 'CITY POOL REPORT
City Pool report was discussed. (See report) More
chemicals have been used this year especially soda
ash. Edmonston reported that the pool equipment is
getting worn and in need of replacement soon.
IV. LAKE FAYETTEVILLE BOATDOCK
Members were told that the Lake Fayetteville Boatdock
Stall and Storage Rental fee increase was approved by
the City Board of Directors.

V. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BIDS
All Community Development Bids were awarded by the
City Board of Directors. The school system will pay
an additional cost of $1,722 and will install the
playground apparatus at Bates Park. The playground
for tots at Asbell Park will be installed by the
manufacturer. Delivery dates will be towards the end
of August.
VI. FACILITY POLICY
Policy regarding usage of park facilities will be
reviewed by Parks Advisory Board at their next
meeting. Discussion of the soccer program will also
continue.
VII. PRAB MEETINGS

PRAB will meet on the following Mondays:
August 7 & 21 September- 11 & 25
October 9 & 23 November 8 & 20
