DRAWER F 72702 (501) 521-7700 PRAB REGULAR MEETING December 7, 1987 The Regular Meeting of the Parks called to order at 5:05 p.m., by Members Present: Staff Present: Guest Present: and Recreation Advisory Board was Chairman Bill Waite. Colwell, Lashley, Lucas, Melton Ryan, Waite, Yarbrough, York Clark, Edmonston, Speck Jerry Jansma, McClelland Engineers BUSINESS: I. The Minutes of the Regular PRAB meeting, held November 16, 1987, were approved. II. BUDGET - Clark, Edmonston Clark went before the City Board to review the Parks Budget in terms of priority. To date, no definite work on the status of budget. III. GULLEY PROPOSED PARK - Clark Survey will be completed Friday, December 11. The City Board has asked the City Attorney to draft a contract for the Gulley land purchase. Each PRAB member was requested to present their ideas in writing about the proposed Gulley Park to the Facilities and Development Committee. IV. PUBLIC WORKS MEETING - December 16 Clark and Edmonston will give five-minute presentations prior to the various committees, to be reviewed at this meeting. V. CD STATUS - Clark The City Board awarded $28,000 to the Parks Department: $14,000 for Jefferson Park playground appartus; and $14,000 for Walker Park playground apparatus and Handi- capped Drinking Fountain. CD Funds will be received in February or March. Clark and Waite will go before the Jefferson PTO for additional input, and request input from the children, also. VI. LAKE SEQUOYAH PROPERTY - Edmonston PRAB reviewed a memo and a copy of a plat of Lake FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT P. O. DRAWER F 72702 (501) 521-7700 PRAB - REGULAR MEETING - December 7, 1981 Page 2 LAKE SEQUOYAH PROPERTY - Continued Sequoyah in which interest has been expressed regarding the possible sale of six acres on the west side of Lake Sequoyah, which is presently city owned. MOTION: LASHLEY/MELTON PRAB recommends that the City of Fayetteville retain the acreage at Lake Sequoyah for future park projects. Motion passed unanimously. (8-0) VII. PARKS VIDEO - Edmonston Edmonston requested PRAB members to review again the Parks video script, make additional corrections and/or suggestions and return the scripts on or before Tuesday, December 15, 1:30 p.m., at which time Lucas, Clark, and Edmonston will. review the scripts for final presentation to Voorhies. VIII. RESTROOM AWARD APPLICATION - Edmonston Clark/Edmonston have applied for a Park Maintenance Award of Merit Contest in the new restroom category (pre -cast concrete) National Institute of Park and Grounds Management. A wall plaque will be awarded the winner. IX. CITY BOARD/PRAB MEETING A meeting date will be determined later.
