Regular Meeting
August. 3, 1987
The Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Board came to order at.5:05 p.m., Room 326 City Hall.
Colwell, Lashley, Lucas, Ryan, Waite, York

Jim Hawkins, President, Sherman Lollar Baseball Board
John Eldridge, Member, Sherman Lollar Baseball Board
Minutes of the July 20, 1987 PRAB Meeting were
approved.
HIGHSCHOOL BASEBALL FIELD REQUEST -Jim Hawkins, John Eldridge
Messrs. Hawkins and Eldridge expressed interest in
using two baseball fields for a High School Baseball
program. $30,000 will be raised over a three-year
period toward this goal; permission will be requested
from the School Board; the money will be turned over
to the Athletic Director, to be spent on baseball
only. Time for the highschool baseball season
would be from early Marchthrough early to mid-May.
'MOTION: Lashley/Ryan
'BRAS agrees -to -allow the Fayetteville' High School to
use the two (:2) Babe -Ruth Baseball fields, and they
Will be charged with -maintenance of those fields
so they will--be-returned' to the Parks Department in
'the..'same-condition--a5 when they are .first used'.' If
'the -fields are used at night,' a 'fee 'for the lights
'will- be 'charged.
Motion passed unanimously. (6-0)
WALKER PARK= Sherman Lollar 'League '= 'Jim Hawkins
The Sherman Lollar League, ages 6 - 12, had 48 teams
in Summer, 1987, with over 700 children participating
in the six-week. league. A new field was built this
year, making a total of six fields, and it may be-

parking is a serious problem.
PRAB requested Connie Edmonston to review the 1988
Budget, for possible consideration of additional
parking at Walker Park.
Messrs. Hawkins and Eldridge complimented both Dale.
Clark and Bob Braswell for their fine work and helpful-
ness with the League.
SQUARE GARDEN PLAQUES- Clark
Mr. Clark reported that Wilbur Watson is in charge
of placing all plaques at the Fayetteville Square
Garden.
JULY SWIMMING POOL REPORT - Edmonston
Total attendance for July, 1987 was 11,056. The
July Monthly Summary is attached as an Addendum
to these minutes.
