MOUNTAIN 72701 (501) 521-7700 PRAB REGULAR MEETING JUNE 1, 1987 The Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board came to order at. 5:05 p.m., at Butterfield Trail Village. Lashley, Lucas, Melton, Clark, Edmonston Ryan, Waite, York WALKER PARK NORTH SOCCER FIELDS Clark reported that the Soccer Club has requested increasing a soccer field to the maximum regulation field size. The soccer club also requested that the fields be irrigated, and the club indicated willingness to put some money into it. PRAB suggested a written agreement should be written up as to what and how muchmoney the soccer club will assist with. PRAB stressed that they had a lot of other programs to con- sider for the budgeted money available. The City Engineering Division is currently drawing the plans and specifications for the fields. PRAB stated questions listed below, as well as others need to be answered: How much work can be completed within the available funding. How about using the Green Space Fee money. Do we need bleachers. PRAB requested that the Soccer Club be invited to attend the next PRAB meeing on June 15, 1987, at 5:30 p.m. PRAB also disccused that if the fields were irrigated, the soccer club would need to pay for the water bills, instead of coming out of the Parks Budget. YOUTH CENTER DAY 'CAMP AND LATCHKEY PROGRAM Clark expressed the need for a shelter for a meeting place at Lake Fayetteville South Park. The Day Camp Program is filled for all summer, and is needing to be expanded. Lake Fayetteville South. Park would be an ideal meeting place if a large pavilion or meeting room were available. Clark also expressed the demand and need to expand the Summer Latchkey Program for ages four to seven to Asbell Pavilion. The Youth Center Board will determine the feasibility and the scheduling to expand the above pro- grams and will work' with PRAB for park facilities. An additional bus will be needed, along with additional supervisory staff. III. OZARK FLYERS MODEL AIRPLANE CLUB The Ozark Flyers Model Airplane Club invited the City Board, PRAB, and Park Staff to a Hamburger Fry and Model Airplane Dedication, to be held on Sunday, June 14, at 2:00 p.m., at Combs Park. IV. BUTTERFIELD TRAIL VILLAGE TOUR AND DINNER David Lashley, Butterfield Trail Village Board of Director, gave PRAB a tour of the recreational and living facilities available at Butterfield Trail. Following the tour, Mr. Lashley hosted PRAB for dinner at Butterfield Trail,. • MEETING ADJOURNED: 7:30 p.m. MINUTES APPROVED Next Meeting: 5 / I?
