MOUNTAIN 72701 (501) 521-7700 PRAB REGULAR MEETING JUNE 2, 1986 The Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board came to order at 4:00 p.m. MINUTES: BUSINESS: I. II. Minutes of the May 19, 1986 meeting were approved as mailed. PROPOSED PARK-GREGG STREET AND FUTURE DRAKE STREET EXTENSION David Lashley reported that the Planning Commission Meeting, held May 27, 1986, tabled the proposed park at Gregg Street and Future Drake Street Extension until the June 9 meeting. MOTION: LUCAS/WAITE PRAB recommends to propose an amendment to the Green Space Ordinance to allow credit from one quadrant to another where an excess of acreage is acquired above the Green Space Requirement.. Motion passed unanimously. (7-0) PRAB instructed Connie Edmonston to ask Jim McCord, City Attorney, to write an amendment to the Green Space Ordinance, relating to allowing credit from one quadrant to another, where there is excess acreage. REPORTS City Swimming Pool: High count to date, 350.. Model Airplane: Crossover Park: Land must dry out before leveling for course and parking lot can be built. MOUNTAIN 72701 (501) 521-7700 PRAB MINUTES (Cont'd) REGULAR MEETING June 2, 1986 Page Two REPORTS -(Cont'd) Youth Theatre: Summer Session: June 16 - July 3 July 14 - August 15 Awarded Arkansas Arts Council Grant in the amount of $1,465.00 for the Grant Year July, 1986 - June, 1987. III. STATUS OF PROPOSED ANIMAL SHELTER Consensus of PRAB is that Walker Park, Gregory Park, Finger Park, Routh Park, and the old Model Airplane area, aswell as the County Fairgrounds should be reviewed. Dale Clark and Connie Edmonston will work with Dr. Hale on this matter. IV. SOCCER PROGRAM EVALUATION Dale Clark and Connie Edmonston presented dollar and time figures relevant to soccer useage. "MOTION: LASHLEY/MELTON PRAB recommends a list of responsibilities we are willing to undertake, regarding the soccer program, be prepared. PRAB requests a list from the Soccer Association as to what they will do regarding the field facilities. PRAB further recommends the Soccer Association go to a FALL SEASON, ONLY, and eliminate the Spring Season. City facilities, "support, and funds will be made available for the FALL SEASON. SOCCER PROGRAM EVALUATION (Cont'd) Dale Clark will ask Don Scott to work up a Maintenance Schedule with price estimates, to be reviewed by the Park Horticulturist. ARKANSAS RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION MEETING Dr. Ryan reported the Executive Board of the Arkansas Recreation and Park Association has invited PRAB to assist in hosting the Southwest Regional Meeting, to be held in Fayetteville, in 1988-1989. BUDGET COMMITTEE MINUTES PRAB accepted the minutes of the Budget Committee as presented by David Lashley. PRAB MEETINGS MOTION- LASHLEY/LUCAS PRAB recommends two meetings be held .thr.oughout the entire year. unanimously approved. (5-0) MEETING ADJOURNED: 6:15 p.m. NEXT MEETING: Monday, June 16, 1986, 4:00 p.
