MOUNTAIN 72701 (501) 521-7700 PRAB REGULAR MEETING April 21, 1986 The Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board came to order at 4:05 p.m. MINUTES: Approval of the April 7, 1986 PRAB meeting were dispensed with until the next scheduled meeting. BUSINESS: I. COMBS PARK Connie Edmonston reported that Sandra Carlisle, Community Development Director, is waiting for drier weather for engineers to set up equipment to survey for parking lot and entry road bids. The Combs Park lease was terminated on April 10; riow ready for the Model Airplane Club to move its activities from Lake Fayetteville to Combs Park, as soon as possible. The Model Airplane Club Officers have been invited to attend the next PRAB Meeting on May 5. PRAB instructed Connie Edmonston and Dale Clark to establish the following restrictions there: Parking, Driving on Land, Locks and Keys. II. RENOVATION WILSON PARK Dale Clark reported that $20,000 had been budgeted for the roof repair and rock work on the building and that the roof bid, alone, was considerably higher. The decision has been made to go ahead with the badly needed sand blasting and tucking. Roof repairs, therefore, will be done in 1987. The driveway will be blocked: $1,000 will be used for tunnelling, since the parking lot has to be redone. Re- FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT 113 W. QUAIL CREEK Connie Edmonston recounted that numerous attempts to reach Wade Bishop remained fruitless. IV. MOTION: MELTON/YORK PRAB recommends that Quail Creek Park be submitted as surveyed and that David Lashley send a letter to the City Board of Directors informing that PRAB feels they • should go ahead. Unanimously approved. PRAB then asked Connie Edmonston and Dale Clark to check with the Planning Commission to see whether or not Jim Lindsey's proposal had been accepted. SPECIAL PROGRAMS Dale Clark indicated the Fayetteville Youth Center is currently including training. such as: Care, and May. 24. attempting early morning lap swims and aerobics, aerobics for men. Mr. Clark will look into weight Outdoor Recreational Summer Seminars will be held Canoeing, Hiking, Snaking, First Aid, CPR, Day Day Camp. The Swimming Pool is scheduled to open Mr. Clark reported that Alan Beauchamp would like to reserve Wilson Park for Team Tennis practice on Saturday morning. MOTION: PRAB advised Dale Clark to reserve a High School :Tennis Court On Saturday for the Team Tennis Practice "Unanimously passed. Youth Theater will be performing Dr. Seuss April 26, at 1:00 p.m., at Dillard's Store. invited to attend. QUARTERLY BUDGET REPORT Quarterly Budget report was postponed until next regular meeting. VI. PARK TOUR, PART II Park Tour, Part II is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, at 7:00 a.m., and will adjourned promptly at 9:00 a.m. VII. OTHER BUSINESS 'ARTS CENTER COMMITTEE Dr Ryan announced that the Arts Center Committee is looking for a site, possibly 18-20 acres. It was the consensus of PRAB that they will be happy to look at it when the time comes.
