SPECIAL MEETING
March 13, 1986
The Special Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board came
to order at 4:15 p.m.
MINUTES:
BUSINESS:
Minutes of the March 3, 1986 meeting were unanimously
approved as mailed.
I. GREEN SPACE -QUAIL CREEK PROPOSED
•
David Lashley and Connie Edmonston reported on
their meeting with Wade Bishop.
MOTION: MELTON/LASHLEY
PRAB recommendation is to use the original survey
'for the proposed park at Quail Creek.
Motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Lashley was asked to write a memo to the City
Board containing PRAB recommendations for steps to
be taken for land acquisition, since the land is
important to future family parks development.
Hopefully, this matter can be placed on the next
City Board agenda.
II. CHANGE IN MEETING TIME
MOTION: YARBROUGH/YORK
PRAB recommended moving the meeting time to
4:00 p.m. PRAB recommended further that
meetings Start on time.
Motion passed unanimously. (6-0).

III. PRAB COMMITTEES
Additional PRAB Committee recommendations are listed
below:
• Public Relations Programs: Provide packets to out-
of-town softball tournament participants; open houses;
provide maps; welcome letter from Mayor; local in-
formation for meals, locksmiths, first aid, hospitals.
• Neighborhood Advisory: Encourage input from park
neighbors so items can be placed on agenda if need be.
▪ Budget and Planning: Need for walking trails, com- -
munity meetings; cost breakdown.
• Program Committee: Report and evaluate special events;
plan programs and project personnel needs; investigate
hiring park personnel during summer to help with summer
activities, such as arts, crafts, mini -drama, music,
puppet shows, synchronized swimming, senior citizens'
activities, senior citizens band, mini -seminars.
• Personnel Committee: Review descriptions from time to
time; revise and/or update organizational chart.
IV. PARK BOOKLETS -MAPS
Connie Edmonston requested input from PRAB for new
park booklets, maps, and brochures which are presently
being prepared, 'and for park information to be placed
on recorder phone, signs, etc.
V. EASTER EGG HUNT -WILSON PARK
• Dale Clark advised PRAB of the Easter Egg Hunt
to be held Easter Sunday, March 30, at Wilson Park.
Volunteers will hide Easter Eggs early on Easter

EASTER EGG HUNT -WILSON PARK (Cont'd)
Morning. The Hunt will be held after the Church Hour.
IGA will sponsor the hunt, which includes prizes.
VI. DARYL BURCH
PRAB asked Connie Edmonston to invite Daryl Burch, Super
Department Head, to attend the next PRAB meeting to be
held on Monday, April 7, 1986, at 4:00 p.m., Room 326,
City Hall.
VII. LAKE FAYETTEVILLE BOAT DOCK ADDITION REQUEST
Dale Clark reported that George Faucettehad requested
additional docking space at Lake Fayetteville. Dale
Clark and Connie Edmonston will check on costs.
VIII. HORSESHOE PITCHING LIGHTING REQUEST
PRAB tabled the written request for lighting at Lake
Fayetteville South Shore Site which had been received
from the Horseshoe Pitching Association.
IX.. SESQUICENTENNIAL -ARBOR DAY TREE PLANTING
Dale Clark reported the Forestry Department is donating
24 Arkansas Oak Trees, which has been designated Sesqui-
centennial Tree, for the Arkansas Tree Planting Day to
be held Arbor Day, March 17, 1986, at 4:00 p.m., at
Wilson Park. Marilyn Johnson, City Board Member, is
coordinator of this event.
