DRAWER F 72702 (501) 521-7700 PRAB June 26, 1984 The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board came to order at 4:15 MINUTES: Minutes of the June 12 meeting were approved as mailed with the on Page 3, item 9. from Sr. Citizen High Rise to Hillcrest Towers. BUSINESS: 1. Land and Water Conservation Fund Program: The Grant proposal for Wilson Park is being prepared and will meet the June 29 deadline in Little Rock. 2. PRAB Meeting: PRAB suggested that the Parks staff including Mark Paul, Patti Reid and Bob Braswell meet occasionally with the PRAB. pm. 3. Combs Park Master Plan: PRAB requested that the lease from Industrial Park for the land go before PRAB before going to the City Board. 4. Finger Park and Walker Park North Developments: Dale Clark reported that that the parks are continuing to be developed, especially the parking lots. 5. Lake Fayetteville Softball Complex: Dale Clark reported that the softball bleacher work has been completed and plans are being made for batting cages and additional parking. 6. Green Space Ordinance: PRAB's recommendation to the Planning Commission as to request land donation or money in lieu according to the Green•Space Ordinance are as follows for -the following developmentsĀ¢'> a. Zion Estates: NE Park District - served by Lake Fayetteville Park 7 Single Family dwelling units Land donation: .088 acres Money in Lieu: $735. MOTION: Melton/Ryan To recommend money in lieu for Zion Estates since the development lies within Lake Fayetteville Park Service Area. Passed unanimously. b. Sunny Lane Addition: NE Park District - served by Butterfield Park 8 Single Family Units & 10 Multi -family Land donation: .2 acres Money in lieu: $1,690 MOTION: Ryan/Melton To recommend money in lieu for Sunny Lane Addition since the development lies within Butterfield Park service area. Union Special Condominiums: NW Park District - served by Asbell Park 120 multi -family units Land donation: 1 acre Money in lieu: $10,200 MOTION: Ryan/York To recommend money in lieu for Union Special Condominiums since the development lies within Asbell Park Service Area. Passed unanimously. PRAB requested an account of the Green Space fees collected. Connie Edmonston is to communicate with Bobbi Jones as to the accounts. upr 7. Master Plan of Cats Park: MOTION:(( on/Ryan ' To advertise for the Master Plan of C Park which is budgeted in the 1984 budget. Passed unanimously. 8. Park Land: PRAB recommended that Dale Clark work with Larry Wood to locate available park land in the northwest park district that is approximately five to twenty acres, inside the city limits of the bypass, and as close to Leverett Gardens as possible. 9. City Pool Report: Connie Edmonston reported that attendance figures are already above last years. Top attendance was 824 on June 14. Edmonston will have attendance comparisons available at the next PRAB meeting. On the 4th of July, the City Pool is planning special events for every age group. Events will include Father -Son Relay, Mother -Daughter Relay, 4 -person T-shirt Relay, Big Splash Contest, Money Scramble, Husband -Wife Relay, Goldfish Scramble, 4 -person Inner -tube Relay, and Watermelon Scramble. Prizes will be awarded to the winners donated by local businesses including Pizza Hut, Ozark Mountain Smokehouse, King Pizza, McDonalds, Safeway, Pet Place, Dillions, Best Sports, IGA.Westgate, Burger King, Wendy's, Hog's Breath Eatery, Ozark Mtn. Sports, Showbiz, Substation, Pets Plus. Pizza Hut will sponsor an add in the Northwest Times to advertise the events. The events will take place every half hour. There is no entry fee to participate. 10. Wilson Park Parking Lot #1: Patti Reid has made a preliminary drawing of parking lot #1. PRAB suggested that she present the drawing at the next Board meeting. Dale Clark is to check on the progress of getting sidewalks on the east end of the park.
