Dr. Einert was asked by the County judge to conduct a study of the need for a municipal/ county golf course. Dr. Einert's sample population was off -campus students. .Results from his study indicated that 60% of the off -campus students felt there was a need for a municipal golf course and that they would use the facilitiy. The county judge also asked Dr. Einert to check with the Fayetteville and Springdale Parks Departments to have their feedback. The Rural Public Society authorized Dr. Einert to conduct a survey of Washington County and possibly to include Benton County. The Rural Public Society felt that a municipal golf course would enhance tourism and industries. Logical sitesidentified for the course were Lake Wedington, Tonitown, Lake Fayetteville The course would require 150 to 200 acres and would cost approximately 11 million dollars. Dr. Einert remarked that they wanted to keep this low key and to be ready if they decide to build a course when public grant money would become available. PRAB members stated that they had thought of building a golf course at Lake Fayetteville in the future, but would have to give it some thought. () • FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS P. 0.
