The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board came to order at 4:10 pm
at the Continuing Education Building.
MINUTES: Minutes were approved as mailed.
BUSINESS:
1. Swimming Pool Fees; Connie Edmonston reported that the
swimming pool went in the hole $9,502.71. It was the
consensus of the Board that the fees need to be raised.
The following fees are recommended to the City Board of
Directors for the City Swimming Pool admissions:
Daily Season Pass
Pre-schoolers: 50C $15.00
Grades 1 - 12: 75c $15.00
University & Adults:$1.25 $25.00
Family: $35.00
Wading Pool Charge for Parent and 1 child: $1.25
Each additional child - 50c
2. C.D. Projects: Bill Waite reported that he will meet with
Sandra Carlisle on Thursday, April 28 to discuss Walker
Park North development and Washington Mountain projects.
3. American Legion Baseball: American Legion will meet with
PRAB on Tuesday, May 24 to discuss the baseball field.
4. State Funds: David Lashley reported that he received a note
from David Malone that funds from SBA (US Small Business
Administration) are available to the State of Arkansas
(5454,300) for part of the jobs program (unemployment).
It• stated that SBA was authorized tb•make state grants for
for rehabilitation and improvements to public parks and
other publicly landscaping of public lands, such as the
planting of trees and shrubs..." Connie Edmonston is to
write for additional information.
5. Jogging Course: Dale Clark reported that Wells Fargo said
that they would help raise the balance of the matching money
if the Parks Department was interested in their program.
PRAB visited about possible park sites for the jogging course.
It was the common consensus that Wilson Park was already
too concentrated and that Gregory Park might be a good

location for the course. Dale and Connie are to layout a
possible course to submitt to Wells Fargo.
6. SwimmingPool Art Mural: Connie Edmonston reported that
the infrmation for the swimming pool art mural is out.
The City Board of Directors approved the project.
7. Children's Theatre: Connie Edmonston reported that the
Advanced Class gave a performance. at Butterfield and
Washington schools. They will give their final performance
of several mini skits on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 pm,
University of Arkansas CC404.
8. Work Schedule: Dale Clark will prepare for the groundwork
for the soccer and softball practice field at Asbell Park..
9. Volunteers in the Parks: Connie Edmonston reported that the
volunteer program had a very good response, however most
groups have been rained out. PRAB suggested following up
on the volunteer program this fall also.
MEETING ADJOURNED: 5:30 pm
NEXT PRAB MEETING: Tuesday, May 10, 4 pm at Continuing Education.
The Lake Fayetteville Environmental Center will present a
water study to the Board at this meeting. Board members are
to check their callendars for a possible park tour date in May.
