PRAB
LONG RANGE PLANNING
MEETING
12/29/82
IN ATTENDANCE: Dale Clark, George Knight, David Lashley,
Beverly Melton
MEETING: The PRAB members met at 2 pm in the Chamber of
Commerce to finish their long range planning session. Specific
jobs were delegated as follows:
1. All Members:

"No -Name Park" A suggested name is to be
the City Board for approval• Suggestions
Flynn: for Gertrude Flynn who owned the property
Northeast Park
2. A priority list is needed for Al Einert as to which park
study (maps, etc) will be done. Dale is to make this list
and have it ready for the January—filth meeting.
3. David: will check out the defining boundaries for all
property in the Industrial Park that is specifically for the
use of Parks and Recreation.
4. Connie: is to followup on progress made by Al Einert on
ed s g ing a common park entry.
5. Dale: is to check with Don Grimes on progress of the solution
to the water problem of John Reed.
6. Dale and George: are to check with Mr/Mrs Reed in 1982 to see
if their water problem has been eliminated. If it has, the
Reeds may like to deed over the land to parks in 1982.
7. David: is to see if the Naval Reserve group has been approached
by either Einert or Wimberly about utilizing the Navy's
parking area.
8. Connie: is to check with Sandra Carlisle about where trees
can a moved from Walker Park North to other locations.
9. Connie: is to ask Al Einert to say which trees in Walker
Park stay and which can be moved to Babe Ruth Field area
and: near the climbing apparatus at Root.

10. Dale: is to have all school pavilion basketball courts lined
(May?).
11. Dale: is to visit with Root School about lowering the
beiketball goals on paved area behind the school.
12. Dale: is to see to improvement of Root playground and
correcting drainage problem.
13. Discussion about whether or not to provide for basketball
court at St. James Baptist - item will be discussed at the
January llth meeting.

PRAB members to discuss:
Drainage to protect lower tennis courts at Bates
(High School)
Asbell renovation or remodeling or additions.
Root drainage problem at Bates pavilion.
Safety railing around wooden pier at Butterfield
pond.

15. Dale: is to check with the City Board if PRAB can work on
the house at Lake Sequoyah and see about rennovation
(maybe with employees aid in a trade off for rent). Dale
is to get an estimate from which to work.
16. David: is to check again with Tom Lavender to see if the
American Legion can have a proposal about their field ready
for the January llth PRAB meeting.
17. Connie: is to initiate (with input from Dale) a public
regions plan for PRAB. Once it has been planned it is to
be presented to the PRAB members for discussion and eventually
adoption of a plan.
18. Connie: needs to work on the volunteer program.
a. Art Brown's study to be considered.
b. A catalogue of volunteers (in cooperation with the
Youth Center is needed).
19. David: is to continue with writing the history of Parks and
Recreation -in Fayetteville.

20. Other Discussions
a. David: American Legion Field -is seeing about a proposal.
b. PRAB needs to offer good facilities for all age groups.
East side lends itself to an excellent neighborhood park.
21. Land Aquisition:
a. No word on Marinoni land.
b. No word on Stevens land.
c. No word on the dome building.
d. Building an addition (gymnastics and martial arts at the
Youth Center) is on the Long Range Plan, but a low priority.
