PRAB MEETING
August 30, 1982
PRAB Meeting came to order at 4:10 pm at City Hall.
MINUTES: Minutes were approved, from the last PRAB Meeting.
BUSINESS:
City Pool Closing: Dale Clark gave the following status report
on the City Swimming Pool. The pool had to close on Sunday,
August 22nd because the pool was ]cosing so much water. Dale
had Don Osborne to test the meter and he reported that the
pool was being ftd 4,000 gallons of water per hour to
maintain the water level. At this rate the pool cost approximate
$900 per week. A week prior to this, the water level was
turned way down and the water level had dropped over one
foot that night. The pool was loosing approximately ten
percent of its volume. One percent of this is from normal
lose from splashes, evaporation, etc.
The pool is not leaking itself, but it is the pipes leading
underneath into the pool. The pool cannot be reopened until
the deck is dug up and the pipes exposed. The pump and filter
are useable and the pump house is in satisfactory condition.
The chlorine system i§ four to five years old (the same as
the pump and filter). In 1981 the pool had to be closed
at least three times for the pipes.
The baby pool has to be drained everyday and refilled. It
has no chlorine system and everytime there is human waste
in the water, it haves to be drained.
The bath house is hard to keep clean, it is not well lighted,
there is no ventalation, and it is hard to get rid of the
germs without excess cleaners.
The pool parking lot between the tennis courts and pool is
in bad shape. The parking lot for the new pool needs to be
elevated to avoid flooding. The south road is also in bad
shape to the pool.
In regard to the status report, the PRAB concluded that the
city is definitely in need of a new pool. A new pool
would also provide the community with many evening useages
and rentals.
