PRAB MEETING
May 25, 1982
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board met at 8:30 am at the Youth
Center for their semi-annual parks tour.
TOUR: The following recommendations were made by the PRAB.
Hotz Park: Swing broken
Talked about the possibility of installing a basketball goal.
Bates Park: Need another trash can
Repaint lines on the pavilion floors
Replace the window boards that protect the windows - possibly with
metal guards
Guttering needs repaired
Jefferson Park : Pavilion }lights missing
Pavilion needs painting inside and lines on floor
Roof guttering needs repaired.
Walker Park: Need to get Little League to help pickup the trash
Need picnic tables on the other side of the ditch '.& by the fields
under the trees
Future Needs - pavilion and more parking
Need security lights by the restrooms
Need new tennis nets
Dead tree outside the fence on field #4
Industrial Park: Parks has 20 acres west of field across the street
Need some picnic tables
Score box is insecure
Broken fence between fields
Scoreboard needs fixed
Need more gravel
Need to enforce not to litter
American Legion Field: Parks now help mow it - American Legion still
works on the infield.
Possibility of using area west of field as practice field
Possibility of neighborhood park someday if American Legion
would sell

Lake Wilson: Need the County to upgrade the road to the Lake
Replace sign for "Lake Wilson"
Long range plan - redue spillway
Need to get Terry to examine the gates on the dam
Lake Sequoyah: Need everything documented concerning Lake Sequoyah develop-
ment.
Future - open field behind house use for camp site
Picnic and play area for women and children by dam area
Need to forma committee for preliminary planning and priorities
Get a class from the University Landscape Architecture Department
for pre-liminary plans for future development
Root Park :
Butterfield Park: Get the School to help with the soccer field
Picnic tables are not needed or used here - possibility of moving
them to Walker Park
Sweetbriar Park: Picnic table needs repaired
Lake Fayetteville : Schedule a PRAB Meeting at the Enviromental Center
this summer
North side area - future overnight camping area
Ball fields: Need stair -step seats between Fields 1 & 2
Possibility of using railroad tyes as steps
Concession stand and bathrooms are inadequate
Need a sign for no alcoholic beverages allowed in Park - enforce it
Modern Fence is cutting off the sharp points on the fences
around the ball fields
Need more parking cement under the bleechevs
Need a fence and/or gate to block traffic and vehicles parking
by concession stand and handicap parking area
Have a raffle to help upgrade the play area
Lake Fayetteville South : Need to check trails
Gregory Park: Sign stollen
Asbell Park: Need a fenced playground area by the softball fields under
the trees
Need to remove the hill of dirt
Need more trash barrels
Cement under the bleechers
Water fountain on the west side is broken
Wilson Park: Need more gravel
Dirt around merry-go-round
Need more benches on the south side
Tear down little shelter on the west end

Clark: Need to think within the next ten years need 10 to 20 acreas for a
new Youth Center.
Edmonston: Suggestion to get a recording for the softball teams to call in
to find out if games are rained out or not. Would need another
line to call in. Eg. 442 -'Ball
Long Range Planning Meeting - Tentatively set for Wednesday, June 9 at
5 pm.
NEXT PRAB MEETING: The next PRAB meeting will be Tuesday, June 8
at 4 pm, City Hall.
