The PRAB discussed with the committee problems with getting media coverage of the parks, and the problem of the Parks being under staffed in the summers to keep the parks mowed and looking good.. The following suggestions were given by the Civic -Improvement Committee: 1) Get industries in the area to help with the land and picnic facilities in the parks. 2) Develop a CC Program - Clean Community The Chamber of Commerce would help use coordinate this. We need to provide them with a cleanup list and when they get calls they can refer them to us. 3) Cleanup to workout city fines (we already do this some, try to get more) 4) Publicity - Take own pictures helpito get publicity in the paper. Mike Davis from the House of Gallery said he would help us. 5) On TV put a note to donate to the Parks with the citizen's tax refunds (Tulsa does this) 6) Get additional cleanup help from - NW ARK Vo-tec School - Work Study - CETA 7) Chambers would help setup with the businesses to pay a fee to be used to hire a person for the Parks to mow their business's green space. Chambers would write businesses a letter. 8) Have a "Trash -a-thon" -- Give kids a trash bag and they receive a free hamburger from McDonalds (eg.) 9) Get Chewing Tobacco Company to help cleanup -the "chewers mess" 10) Chambers to help with a publicity spread in the newspaper.
