Monday, November 2, 1981, 1:30 p.m. PRESENT: Dale Clark, David Lashley, Beverly Melton, Rod Ryan, Romey Thomason, Mark Widder The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board met at 1:30 p.m. in the Director's Room at City Hall. TENNIS COURTS - Alan Beauchamp The overhead wires on the tennis courts at Wilson Park are in the way of play. It is asked they be moved. It will run roughly $420.00. A motion was made by Beverly Melton, seconded by Romey Thomason that, "Wires across first four tennis courts and two poles within courts be removed; remove wire from over two separate tennis courts and put it on another pole; rewire the night light on another pole. The cost to be borne half by tiie Tennis Associa- tion and half by the City out of Building and Grounds (Maintenance) funds." Motion carried unanimously. MINUTES The minutes of October 5, 1981 were approved as written and circulated. CITY BOARD MEETINGS November 3 - Rick Osborne will take care of the agenda item. November 17 - The Swimming Pool Committee will help present a proposal. GREEN SPACE ALLOCATIONS REQUEST Following discussion and perusal of new development locations on a map, it was decided to continue to ask for money in lieu of land mainly because develop- ment land is small in individual acreage. This will be brought up for further consideration. ADDITIONAL MEETING Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will meet again, Monday, November 16, 1981 from 1:45 to 3:45. David Lashley is to ask that one City Board member be designated as liaison • and will attend all Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meetings. • SWIIMING POOL 1. Beverly Melton reviewed briefly the progress. 2. No decision yet on HCRS grant. It is Parks and Recreation Advisory Board's feelings to keep trying until we feel it will delay us, then withdraw application. 3. At the last City Board Meeting it was decided not to continue with the previous architect/engineer. 4. Committee needs more complete detailed descriptions of the pool and area to give to the City Board. Following discussion a motion was made by Rod Ryan, seconded by Mark Widder, that "the Swimming Pool Committee return to discussing details and pulling out a package (preliminary) to present to the City Board on November 17 as a starting point. To use any means they lilie to get details." Motion carried unanimously. 5. Barbara Crook offered her services in doing a preliminary drawing. HANDBALL COURT Concern had been expressed by several members of the impact of a 20' wall • in Walker Park. It is felt 12' is high enough for practice. David will call Wayne Jones and ask them to go only to 12'. If this cannot be done the construc- tion to be stopped entirely.
