PARKS AND RECR2,,ATICi: ADVISORY BOARD
Thursday, January 9, 1969
The meeting was called to order by the Chair:^n. Members
present were Margaret Wooten, Barbara Broyles, Bill Brandon,
David Lashley, Rodney Ryan,

A discussion
was held on
the
new gymnasium.
The plans of the
building; had been
presented to
the
School Board.
The members who
had presented the
plans to the
School
Board stated
that the school
does not have sufficient funds
to
help with the
gymnasium.
The possibility of having a fund raising drive to obtain
part of the money for the building was discussed. Yx. Lashley
stated that several pzople had spoken to him in favor of a fund
raising drive.

for the building on the basis that he will get paid if money for
the gymnasium can be raised.
Mrs. Broyles suggested that the Board try to get a concrete

of rrhat type of building they want if the money can be
raised.
• Mr. Ryan said that suct thought they should go ahead and pursue
the gyrnasium for another month and cone up with a set of concrete
plans before the next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Board.

The idea was brought up of having so -:e architecture students
from the University sit in on a m�cti= to get an idea of the
type of building that is needed._
Basketball and volley bail teams at the Youth Center were
discussed as the final businsss of the reeting. The meeting
was recessed at 2:35.
