HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-06-13 MinutesThe June meeting of the Fayetteville Public Library Board was held Tuesday the 13th with the following members present: Lars. Vincenheller, Mrs. Swartz, Mrs. Deal, Mrs. Watson, Mr. Mc1'Vhortar, Lir. S.eriwether and Mr. Greenhaw. The working schedule for the assistant to Mrs. Paulsrud was changed from two hours per day to 6lzu y>4 ea� _ �� Treasurer's report - was submitted for two months (May and June combined). The following report was made by Leonard Greenhaw: Lewis Brothers' price for, venetian blinds per window is $15.30. Price per window for better grade shade is $6.30 for one 'shade and $$7.00 per window for two shades at one window. Prices were quoted installed. Action on purchase was put off for the time being. After discussion as to inclusion in the Community Chest, it was decided that the Library desires to remain in the Chest for at least 01,000, rather than to have a separate drive. Mr. McWhorter appointed Mr. Meriwether, Mrs. Vincenheller and Mrs. Deal as a committee to dtudy plans to present to the Community Chest before September, 1950. This committee should inform the Chest of the amount needed by this library. Mrs. Paulsrud has enrolled for one course in Library Science at the University of Arkansas, for which the Librarian has paid $13.00 fee from fine money. "Books and Related Materials" is the name of the course. Next term she can take another course. Motion made by tire Meriwether that the fee for Mrs. Paulsrud's two courses shall be paid by the Librarian from fine money with the understanding that if Mrs. Paulsrud should quit in less than one year she should refund money to the library. Motion seconded and carried. Mrs. Deal reported that Mrs. Shaddux has completed 12 drawers of cata- log cards to date. There is a good chance to finish the entire 28 sections by the time Mrs. Shaddux leaves town. Cards are filed and put into use as completed. Forty-five sections are complete to date. After finishing inventory, shelves will be read for different sections at the end of each 6 -month period (com- pleting the entire reading at the end of each 2 -year period). Decision was made to cancel subscription for Wilson Library Bulletin and Library Journal. These will be purchased by the County Library since they are used almost exclusively by Mrs. Deal.
