March 14,1950
The Fayetteville Public Library Board held its regular monthly
meeting on March 14,1950 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library rooms.
Mr.McWhorter presided.
Members present were Mr.Me'8herter,Mrs.Vincenheller,Miss Vaulx,
Mrs.Swartz,Mrs.Watson,Mr.Qreenhaw,Mr.Bumpers,Mr.Meriwether,Mr.Blossom,
and Mr.MeMillen.Mrs.Deal.the County Librarian,also met with the Board.
The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.
Mr.Oreenhaw reported the installation of the fountain in the library
rooms,purchased from the Holvinator Helder Appliance Company at a cost
of $181.
Mr.Oreenhaw also reported on the purchase of a flag at a cost of
the sum of $29.75,including a stand and an eagle an the staff.
The Treasurer,Mrs.Vincenheller,reported for the months of January
and February.The balance in the First National Bank for the.:mvgth of
February was $2299.07.
Mrs.Deal rep&rted that the total circulation for February was 2572.
The corresponding month a year ago showed a circulation of 2108.
Mrs.Deal also reported on what Mrs.Shaddox has been doing in con-
nection with cataloging the juvenile beoks,which constitute about one-
fourth of the total in the Library.
It was voted to authorize the purchase of Wilson library carda.which
are used to catalog adult non-fiction.
It was
voted to
authorize the Librarian
to purchase a new Underwood
typewriter
and.trade
in the old one.The cost
will
be approximately $109.
It was voted to authorize the House Committee to purchase blinds to
place on the window near the librarian's dosk.It is to be hoped that
various organizations will become interested in purchasing similar blinds
for the other windows until the whole library needs are met.
