February 14,1950
The regular monthly meeting of the Library Board was held at 7$00 p:me,
February 14,1950 with Mr.MeWhorter presiding.
Members present were Mr.MeWhorter,Mrs.Swartz,Mrs.Watson,Mr.Mertwether,
Mr.Greenhaw,and Mr.MeMillen.Mrs.Deal,the County Librarian,also met with
the Beard.
The minutes of the regular and orgariizatisnal meetings held on
January 10 were read and approved.
It was voted that the matter of.the purchase and installation of a
fountain for the Library be referred to the House Committee and that the
committee report back to the Board concerning..cost.'etc.
The Ghairman appointed. the following standing committees for 1950s.
Budget Committee
Mrs.Vincenheller
Mr.Bunpers
Book Committee
Miss Vaulx
Mrs.Watson
Mr.McMillen
House Committee
Mr.Greenhaw
Mr.Blossom
Mr.Rhea
Publicity Committee
Mrs.Swertz
Mr.Meriwether
The 0hairman reported that funds on hand January 31,1950 were $2478.83.
Mr.Greenhaw was requested to work with the mayor to see about getting
a flag for the Library.
The Librarian's report was presented by Mrs.Deal.
Mrs.Deal reported that the Story Hour was being resumed on February 16
and would continue every Thursday.
It was voted to authorize Mrs.Deal to purchase a book truck.at a cost
of approximately $75.
It was voted to authorize Mrs.Deal to hire a pers%n or persons at the
rate of seventy-five cents an hour to make an inventory and a catalog of
the books in the Library.
It was voted to appropriate the sum of $750 for the binding of books.
It was voted to appoint a committee consisting of Mrs.Swartz,Mra.Vin-
cenheller,and Mrs.Deal to discuss with the various book clubs the whole
matter of purchase of .club books.
