HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-01-10 MinutesANNUAL MEETING OF FAYETTEVILLE LIBRARY ASSOCIATION January 10, 1950 Mr. McWhorter, President of the Board, presided. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and approved. The Librarian's report was read and ordered filed. It was noted that 285 adult books and 218 juvenile books were purchased during the year. There was an increase in circulation of about 250 books per month. 27,309 books were circulated during the year. Mrs. Swartz moved, seconded by Miss Vault, that the Librarian's report be accepted with thanks to Mrs. Wiggins. Unanimously adopted. J. Treasurer's report was given. Mr. Putnam moved, seconded by Mrs. Swartz, that this report be accepted and filed. Motion carried. Mr. McWhorter discussed the County Library program and reported to the Association on the public meetings which were held during the year. Election of officers. The retiring members of the Board are Mrs. Fount Richardson, Mr. McWhorter and Mrs. Vincenheller, Mrs. Richard- son asked that she be not re-elected. The secretary was unanimously instructed to thank Mrs. Richardson for her past services. Mrs. Deal discussed library problems. Mr. Putnam suggested that a drinking fountain for the children be obtained and that a United States. flag be obtained for the library. He suggested that the Board get these two things. Mayor Rhea suggested that the Board request the library room be painted so that it could be included in the City budget. Mrs. Vincenheller moved, seconded by Miss Vaulx, that a vote of appreciation and thanks be given to Mrs. Wiggins, our retiring Librarian. Motion carried unanimously, IFe Q G;7 E. B. Meriwether Acting Secretary NEW BOARD MEETING, January 10, 1950 Present: Mr. McWhorter, Mrs. Wincenheller, Miss Vaulx, Mr. Greenhaw, Mayor Rhea, Mr. Meriwether The following officers were elected: Mr. McWhorter, President; Mr. Leonard Greenhaw, Vice President; Mr. 0. W. McMillen, Secretary; and Mrs. Miriam A. Vincenheller, Treasurer. Mrs. Deal, the County Librarian, recommended Mrs. Margret Paulsrud for the position of Assistant Librarian at $85.00 per month and Mies Neva Frederich at 50¢ per hour, Miss Frederich to work on Saturday and two hours each afternoon. It was moved by Mrs. Vincenheller, seconded by Mayor Rhea, that we accept Mrs. Deans recommendations. Motion carried. Moved by Mr. Meriwether, seconded by Mrs. Vincenheller, that the Board authorise the payment of salaries as set out in the above recomen, dation and that the monthly telephone bills be paid.
