October 12,1948
The Library Board met in regular session on October 12 in the Library
rooms.
Members present were Miss Vaulx,Mrs.Vincenheller,Mrs.Swartz,Mr.Meriwether,
Mr.Butler,and Mr.McMillen.
In the absence of Mr.McWhorter,Mr.Meriwether was elected to preside.
The Librarian,Mrs.Wiggans,was also present to ask certain questions regard -
budget allowances for books and other matters.
It was voted not to spend more than $100 for books for each of the remain-
ing months of the present"year,0ctober,November,and December.
The Librarian reported that she planned to put on a book display in a
store window in connection with the raisinJP f funds for the Community Chest.
The display was to illustrate how the Library serves the community.
The Librarian reported on the possibility of her attending the State
Library meeting in Little Rock.
It.was voted to authorize the Librarian to change the Library hours at
her discretion omitting the Tuesday morning hours and extending the after-
noon hours to 5130 in order to accommodate the public.
The Librarians report,filed with these minutes,showed a total circula-
tion of 1602.The circulation for the same month in 1947 was 1620. That for
the preceding month of this year was 1964.
The Treasurers report,herewith filed,showed a balance in the First Na-
tional Bank of $758.03.
