Acting Secretary
We have received two checks, one for children's
books from the Business and Professional "',omen's
Club for the amount of twelve dollars; the other
from AATnAT to cover cost of books which they have
ordered. Also Mrs. Randolph Murphy gave the Library
one dollar to be applied to the children's book
fund. All this was deposited in the bank May 1.
I have had a request for the true naming of
Fayetteville from someone in Paris, France, who is
making a study of names of American cities. Our
Libraryhas far-reaching services which I am more
than happy to render.
The windows in the Library need repairing badly.
Many are stuck and cannot be raided. Others
are down from the top; thus causinIv the wind to
blow through disturbing everyone. One window has
almost fallen out iri the Librarian's office. The
screens also need repairing.
Nine books have come for Lincbin School and have
been sent to them, along with book pockets and
cards.
we have a. -number of
books
in the Library which
are
worn out and have been
out
of circulation for
some
months. Many cannot
be repaired,
and most of
them
have pages missing.
Shall
i destroy them? I
have
been told that no one
buys
scrap paper here now.
Our summer reading program will begin June 14 and
will last throu-h August 13. I plan to have a
story hour each Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00.
Mrs. 'Watson and others have offered to help me
entertain the children at that time. We have a
little display planned to stimulate interest in
reading.
Pat Rogers is on vacation now. She had planned to
take her vacation the last of August, but she had
to change her plans. She has been gone one week
and will probably be gone tie rest of this week.
