Butler, Dr. iv;eri:rether,and riir.I:Icaiilien. ,r;r.;rlc6yhorter opened up the Library for the Board members but had to leave before the rieet- ing was called to order. In the absence of the chairman,the secretary called the Board to order and Bias Vaulx was asked to preside. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.It should. be noted that the minutes of all previous minutes have been read and approved,'out the fact has been inadvertently omitted from the minutes. The Treasurer's report was read and is filed with these minutes. The report showed a cash balance in the First National Bank of 421489100 ,The Librarian's report,showing a circulation of 1995,was read and is filed with these minutes.The report showed a decrease in circulation as compared with the preceeding month,which was 2181.It showed an in- crease over that of April 1940,which was 1703. In accordance with the re COmmelldat'iOrEOf the Librarian in her sup- plementary report tine followii4„ actions were taken: That upon the arrival of the new set of the Encyclopedia Americana, the old set be given to the Lincoln School. That the purchase of a new Hand iiicNally atlas on a four-year plan be approved. It was voted to authorize the investment of X700 in bonds and -fi300 in children's books from present funds on hand,the latter sum being in addition to the amount provided for in this yearts budget. A letter from the Lincoln School faculty and children, signed by Miss Davukins,was reads thanking the Board for the gift of books and supplies recently made. l!liss Vaulx announced that the 'D A ii local chapter was holding a silver tea at her home on May 18,the proceeds to go the Library.
