HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-02-13 MinutesFebruary brought a noteworthy increase in the borrower's file; I00 new readers were registered. Of this number, 70 were juvenile members. Public school teachers urged their pupils to enroll at the Library and the child- ren responded heartily. In a number of instances,cb&e of the parents came with the children. Of course this large enrollment increased the circulation, so we gave out 2,239 books during the month. A large box of books owned by Mrs. Annie McIlroy Johnson was donated to the Library by her son. We have already put some of them into use; others will be set aside for re- placements, as the present stock wears out. The new pamphlet case is proving useful. The total number of borrowers as of February.28, was 5,496--- 3,868 adults and I,628 children. Probably some names should be removed from the files, but we do not take them out until we are sure that the person has gone away. We have retained all cards of men and women in the armed services, etc. There are a number of readers who are rather transient-- here fpr the duration; hence the total will vary from time to time, but it is not likely to fall below 5,000. 1
