Ie January 9, 1940; members in attendance being: I::rs. Fount Richardson I,:iss Julia Vaulx Dr. J. C. Jordan Dr. E. Jertheim IN. E. EcWhorter In the absence of Chairman Vincenheller, Vice President Wertheim presided, and. 1.1ci7horter acted as secretary, in the absence of Izs. 1"cClelland, who was ill. The minutes of the last meeting were ready by the secretary, accepted and ordered filed. The treasurer's report was read, accepted, and ordered filed. The librarian's annual report was read, accepted, with some very complimentary remarks, and ordered filed. The report shows considerable iruprovement in Juvenile and lion -Fiction subscribers, and considerable increase in the readers. A splendid report from the .Book Committee was given by Dr. J. C. Jordan, accepted, and ordered filed. Upon motion by Irrs. Richardson, seconded by lass Vaulx, that the library association give a vote of thanks to I4:iss Irene Galloway, the librarian, for her untiring; and efficient work, and a letter of appreciation showing the acts of the Board be mailed to Liss Galloway. I:otion was made by Ers. Richardson, seconded by Dr. Jordan, that a vote of thanks to the Uomen's Civic Club, also, the Business & Professional Women's Club for their contribution and continued support of the library, and a letter be mailed to the president of each club expressiong this opinon of the Board. A rising vote was accepted expressing our appreciation to our Chairman, i:rs, Vincenheller, kr. Lewis, Treasurer, vIrs. i:lcClelland as Secretary, and other coruaittee heads for their untiring; efforts and splendid work for the year 1939. As is the usual custom, three members of the 3oard were retiring, and it was necessary to elect three neer members. Richardson, that th nomination be closed, and the secretary be autt:orized to cas� unanimous vote for these three. Librarian's report read and accepted. i4 scussion of Einisterial Alliance, reported by i,-rs, xichardson, that they were of the opinion a portion of their fund was being turned over to the library association for the purpose of buy- ing religious books, and through their oim secretary this money was turned over to the library's treasurer, who placed it in the veneral fund, and throu;h error of the I:_inisterial Alliance's secretary the su-;;vested purchase of these books was not reo.uested. Dr, oordan promized to discuss the natter with i:_r, iialph Le:ais, the treasurer, who will take the matter up with the i_inisterial Alliance and straighten the matter out satisfactory for the com- ing year. A telegram from L_rs. 1.iriam A. Vincenheller, Chairman, was read and approved,.and ordered spread on the minutes, to show the splendid interest of our Chairman in the activities of the Board: it Leavenborth, lansas, January S. 1940 11;1, Wertheim, Chemistry Building, University of rrkansas Thank you personally for serving for me the past few months; and to the Library Board every food wish for a useful and successful managerient through this year. If we have any extra money I would su gest a larger amount in the bu.d;;et for repairs and help in the library even the beginnin„ of a catalog. I:irian A. Vincenheller" No further business appearing., meeting ad.ourned, REORGANIZATION IMT1NG The new Board of the Fayetteville Public Library Association met following the general Board Meeting, to elect officers for the ensuing year: Upon motion by hxs. Richardson, seconded by Dr. Jordan, the secretary was instructed to cast the vote for the following .officers: I.rs. I:iriam A. Vincenheller, Chairman W. E. I cI'3horter, Vice President LIrs. IacClelland, Secretary Ralph Lewis, Treasurer No further business appearing, the meeting adjourned.
