HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-05-28 - Minutes - ArchiveMINUTES OF THE MAY 28, 2009 REGULAR MEETING OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS The Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas met in Regular Session at 6:00 p.m., May 28, 2009, in the City Administration Building, Room 326, Fayetteville, AR. Olivia Hom, Chairperson called the meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m. Commissioners Present: Commissioners Absent: Others Present: Old Business Olivia Horn, Mark Kinion and Leon Jones, Jr. Beautiful Gibson and Hugh Earnest Fredia Sawin and Laura Higgins (Fayetteville Housing Authority) - A. Review of By -Laws to decide if any Changes are Needed -Mr. Jones reviewed the By-laws and found some changes he felt needed to be made mainly just updating the wording and making it more user friendly. Ms. Sawin will incorporate the new changes and present them in a resolution for the board to vote on at the next regular meeting. New Business A. Approval of Minutes of Previous Regular Meeting -Mr. Kinion motioned to accept the April 23, 2009 Regular Minutes, seconded by Mr. Jones and carried unanimously. B. Approval of April 2009 Financial Statements -Financial Statements were reviewed and then Mr. Jones motioned to accept the April 2009 Financial Statements, seconded by Mr. Kinion and carried unanimously. C. Executive Directors Report -Ms. Horn announced that the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program received a 100% score under the SEMAP (Section 8 Management Assessment Program) and staff was thanked for their hard work in achieving this high performer designation. Ms. Sawin reviewed her written report and stated that the flowers at the Hillcrest Towers building were planted and if volunteers are needed for watering she will advise the board for any assistance. Ms. Sawin will be mailing out the Five Year Agency Plan for the board's review so they can be prepared to vote on it at the next regular meeting. Ms. Sawin announced that she received no bids for the Emergency Planning RFP sent out. Ms. Sawin will advertise one more time to see if she gets any bids, if not then this plan may just need to be implemented in-house. Ms. Sawin stated that the additional CFP funds are on track and that the cabinets will be replaced at Morgan Manor first due to the fact that these cabinets are of poor quality. Ms. Horn also announced that there is a tour being conducted by the City of Fayetteville to attempt to apply for more stimulus funds for the Hillcrest Towers building and the Morgan Manor site. Ms. Horn will contact Ms. Yolanda Fields and find out what time on Tuesday this tour is scheduled for and Ms. Sawin, Mr. Kinion, Ms. Hom and Mr. Jones will attend this tour and represent the Housing Authority.
