HOUSING AUTHORITY OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
The Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas met in Regular Session at
5:30 p.m., January 15, 2008, in the City Administration Building, Room 326,
Fayetteville, AR.
Olivia Hom, Chairperson called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Hugh Earnest, Leon Jones, Jr. and
Olivia Hom
Commissioners Absent: Mark Kinion and Deborah Olsen
Others Present: Fredia Sawin and Laura Higgins (Fayetteville Housing
Authority)
Ms. Horn welcomed the newest board member Leon Jones, Jr and Mr. Jones in returned
thanked the board for nominating him to be a part of the Fayetteville Housing Authority
Board of Commissioners.
Old Business
None
New Business
A. Approval of Minutes of Previous Regular Meeting -Mr. Earnest motioned to
accept the December 18, 2007 Regular Meeting Minutes, seconded by Mr. Jones
and carried unanimously.
B. Approval of December 2007 Financial Statements -Ms. Sawin advised the board
that the Housing Authority will not have to go to asset management as Congress
recently passed a bill advising that all Public Housing agencies under 400 units
will not be required to change their accounting methods. Motion was made by
Mr. Earnest to accept the December 2007 Financial Statements, seconded by Mr.
Jones and carried unanimously.
C. Executive Directors Report- Ms. Sawin reviewed her written report. As Mr.
Jones was new on the board Mr. Earnest explained the non-profit, Partners for
Better Housing and all the things that the board hopes to do through this
organization. Ms. Sawin will try to set up a meeting with Connie Morton (a
consultant who has applied for 202 housing for the N.W. Regional Housing
Authority) to meet with the Partners for Better Housing board on Thursday,
January 24, 2008 at 11:45 a.m. for lunch at Uncle Gaylord's, 315 W. Mountain,
Fayetteville, AR. Ms. Sawin will confirm this meeting with the board members
before this date.
There being no further business, meeting was adjourned.
