HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-07-17 - Minutes - Archive• • MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS The Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas met in Regular Session at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday July 17th, 2002 in the office of the Authority %1 North School Ave., Fayetteville, Arkansas. Janet Richardson, Chairperson, called the meeting to order. Commissioners Present: Richardson, Watson, Garton, Childress Commissioners Absent: Clinehens Others Present: Bromo Wilson, Fredia Sawin The Minutes of the June 19th, 2002 Regular Meeting were approved by motion, seconded, and carried unanimously. The June Financial Statement was approved by motion, seconded, and carried unanimously. • Mr. Wilson acknowledged to the board that the Capital funds for 2001 will start being spent on August 1, 2002. Johnson Plumbing will start their project at Lewis Plaza around this time. Ms. Watson updated the board concerning the monthly residence meeting. Mr. Mike Atwell (Fayetteville Housing Authority Maintenance Supervisor) attended the last meeting. He answered lots of questions and impressed upon the tenants to call the office if they need maintenance to ask for a work order. Also attending was a speaker from the Ambulance Service with good information on reasonable insurance for elderly and disabled people since medicare and medicaid has cut their allowance for ambulance costs dramatically. Resident Meetings are scheduled to meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Ms. Richardson stated that she has attended a resident's meeting and she commends Ms. Watson on her great job and the meeting is well attended. Ms. Richardson brought to the attention of the board the request from Lifestyles to change the policy of the Housing Authority which governs what a family is. Has anyone given it a thought? We need to lay it to rest one way or the other. Ms. Watson mentioned that we have exhausted our investigation and may need to bring Mr. Hart back to explain to her our reasoning for our decision. We cannot have guidelines for the Section 8 program without changing the guidelines for the Public Housing. • • • • • Page 2 Mr. Garton after further discussion made a motion to notify Lifestyles in writing that it is the unanimous decision of the board that at this time we cannot change the Fayetteville Housing Authority policy. Motion was approved, seconded and carried unanimously. Ms. Richardson will write the letter for the board. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. ATTEST.
